Re: How can FIFA justify these prices?

It's even more insulting when you consider the low incomes in some of the participating countries - average monthly wage in Haiti £110, in Ghana £190.

Supporters tell BBC Sport of their frustration at the astronomical cost of following the 2026 World Cup.

Re: How can FIFA justify these prices?

I have been fortunate in that I have done 4 World Cups in my time.
Realistically this will probably be the last I will feel capable of attending.
However, now I am retired I can't really justifying the costs highlighted on here so it will be the comfy armchair and slippers as my viewing option.
Disappointed to miss out but the whole concept seems to be a money extraction scheme that has made me decide to miss out.

Man City’s new stand is not available for season ticket holders. Is our game f*cked for us run of the mill fans? Looks like. When is it going to implode?

I think we'll be alright, can't imagine there being too many tourist fans coming to watch City any time soon

It wouldn’t surprise me if this is the last World Cup on free to air tv.
Probably have sky and others selling World Cup packages as extra to their normal rip off packages.

TBF, football isn't what it used to be.

In World Cup parlance, Qatar was Fifa president Gianni Infantino’s qualifier. Now it’s the big time for Trump’s dictator-curious protege, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

A simple answer to the original poster's question...
If people pay the ridiculous prices...it's justified.

                        Is that right?

My understanding, from researching online, is that the development of the North Stand would create a further 7,000 seats, of which 3,000 will be reserved for season tickets.

It would seem that some current North Stand season ticket holders are unhappy, because the creation of a new bar will result in them being relocated elsewhere in the stadium.

How about life-long fans who can't afford the extortionate ticket prices, can we tell them it's justified?

I think the pricing is very greedy and in a lot of matches will no doubt collapse in the weeks prior whilst others sell out.

Playing devils advocate though it's the world's game yet no one really cares whether a lifelong Indian fan can afford to get to your average tournament and pay £100 a ticket. It's all relative, for a large population of the world what we pay to see Wales would be unjustified.

                              In FIFA's eyes...yes.
In normal, loyal fans eyes...not into a million years.

Point taken, but I think the difference here is that if football is really the world’s game, how come we’ve reached a stage where there’s not one country on earth where the cost of the cheapest ticket for the greatest showcase sporting event on the planet would not leave a big hole in what I’ll call your typical football fan’s annual income?
