Injuries aside, he just hasnÂ’t kicked on at all in the 3-ish years heÂ’s been here. HeÂ’s 24 now, older than Salech. Too injury prone to be relied upon as a backup

When we signed him for I think 500k - it was said that Spurs insisted on a buy-back fee, so they must had thought there was at least a chance he would go on to do well, but at the same time 500k isn't exactly suggestive of a huge prospect.

I remember looking at his stats from one of his loans when we signed him, and it was a really unusual profile for a striker, especially a tall one - some really interesting strengths, and some glaring weaknesses. (although I can't remember the actual details now).

if he could have improved those areas then we would have had a pretty valuable asset on our hands - unfortunately it hasn't happened, whether that's partly down to unfortunate timing with injuries, or whether he never really had it in him to make the leap to the next level.

I don't mind this type of signing though, relatively low risk, with a big potential upside - similar to the Mark McGuinness deal, only that one worked out and Etete didn't - we made millions from McGuinness - but they're never all going to work out like that.

Presumably he'll be moved on eventually, and perhaps it'll click for him one day and he'll have a decent EFL career, but it's not going to be for us.
