Re: New time limits from June

Remember when substituted players were supposed to leave from the closest touch line and walk around the perimeter of the pitch? I feel like that got quickly forgotten.

It was a good rule that made sense so they scrapped it

Is it genuinely scrapped? Or just not enforced?

I remember a few seasons ago the Premier League spent the first month strictly punishing diving (“simulation” as they called it) with players being booked, and maybe being retroactively punished but I can’t quite remember. Come Christmas it was as if the new rules had never existed.

The Doncaster game yesterday, the ball went out next to the corner flag. The player took the throw in by the edge of the penalty area. I think that's the problem that needs to be addressed not the 5 second rule.

            .
Pretty sure one of the Chelsea players had to walk the long way around the pitch this afternoon after being subbed.

              Yeah really annoying.

I also liked the rule that was briefly imposed (and nicked from the egg) whereby refs could move a free kick forward by ten yards if opposing players dissented.

But that didn’t last long either. :-(

(it must have been ages ago now as my Dad was still alive, I think)

I hate VAR. It would be abolished tomorrow if I had my way. Blame those people who advocated for its introduction, such as Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock. And blame the Premier League clubs who voted to introduce it, such as Cardiff City Football Club.
Yes. If only it had been in place for that Chelsea game at home when we were in the Premier League, heh?

                Oh well……

They just don't enforce it, which is funny because so often you hear "refs don't like x, y, z rule but they have to do it"

I'm glad it wasn't. VAR is a truly soulless experience

94% of football fans said VAR has made football a less enjoyable experience. Can you imagine any other entertainment industry where 94% of people said we don't like it and it staying? Imagine if you had a 5 minute break in an action sequence in a film while some tosser in Milton Keynes worked out if Tom Cruise was actually hanging off the side of a plane or not.

And referees still take approaching 60 secs for free kicks outside the penalty area.

Or indeed for Bamba's last minute winner versus Brighton. Oh well....

I believe that you can take a throrow-in anywhere behind the point where the ball went out.

According to a report on Sky Sports News earlier, the Premier League are not going to adopt the recommendations regarding using VAR for awarding corners.
