Re: Rubin signs new Contract
Very good news.
The club article also quotes Vincent Tan on Rubin. From that I think anyone hoping he was going to leave any time soon will be disappointed!
We are delighted to announce that Rubin Colwill has signed a new City deal. His agreement with the Bluebirds will now run until the summer of 2030.
The Academy graduate broke into our First Team squad during 2021. He has since gone on to appear 181 times in City blue. Despite missing three months through injury, Rubin has still made a big impact on our enjoyable season thus far, scoring seven times, including three goals in his last two fixtures and assisting on six occasions in all competitions.
Rubin’s importance to the Bluebirds was emphasised during the summer months, with the playmaker nominated as vice-captain, alongside his move to the number 10 shirt.
Speaking about his new deal, Rubin said: “I’m very happy to get this sorted. This is my Club and it’s the only place I’ve wanted to be since I was nine. I want to thank Tan Sri Vincent, the Board and Brian for showing such faith and belief in me.
"I’m extremely proud to be wearing this shirt and I’ll give everything I can to get us back to where we belong. I can only see exciting times for us ahead."
City boss Brian Barry-Murphy added: "I'm very pleased. Rubin is a very important player for us. He understands the Club so well. To see him commit his future here is very exciting for me.
"He's so focussed on getting even better and so motivated to do that. If you retain a hunger to improve, and an ambition to reach for the stars, then you have no limits on what you can achieve and Rubin has that mentality."
Tan Sri Vincent Tan said: "I’ve known and admired Rubin as a footballer and person for a very long time now. He is a critical part of our team and of what we intend to do at Cardiff City in the coming seasons.
“Investing seriously like this in our talented young players for the long term is part of our football strategy and I’m very confident that Rubin will continue to push us forward. He is one of ours and he’s with us for this next journey.”

Re: Rubin signs new Contract
Don't know what to think about Wintle. He's been playing very well, apparently, and at this level his brain is half a second quicker than most of the opposition, at championship level it generally wasn't. Apologies if i've angered anyone with that opinion, although Wintle is a free hit, so should be ok.Originally posted by Des Parrot View PostExcellent news.
I think the 3 whose contracts end this season are Bagan, Ng & Wintle. IÂ’d be extending each of them, probably for 2 seasons.

Genuine question. Do you go to any City games anymore, or at least watch any of them on TV ?Originally posted by Tuerto View PostDon't know what to think about Wintle. Think if it can be done the club/BBM would be over the moon to get Winty signed. Understated player that seems integral to just keeping things ticking. Playing his best football in this system where he obviously is very clear on what his role is.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostDon't know what to think about Wintle. Re: Rubin signs new Contract
He did okay at championship level for a season and half after the Blackpool loan. He struggled under Bulut who sometimes played him in the 10 role. His Millwall loan was odd as he barely featured for them and I think we missed him in the holding midfield role last year.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostDon't know what to think about Wintle. I'm not a huge fan but think he's earned a contract, at the very least he would be a capable deputyOriginally posted by Tuerto View PostDon't know what to think about Wintle. Same for Ng and Bagan

Re: Rubin signs new Contract
I'm on the fence, although i think that he will get a new deal. Colwill R should be getting a sizable pay rise with this new contract. Good luck to him.Originally posted by City123 View PostI'm not a huge fan but think he's earned a contract, at the very least he would be a capable deputy
