Yes sad, I knew him for forty years, a hell of a character and as solid a fan as you could ever meet. RIP Dai, we are back in the Championship with the best Manager and young squad we've had in years. :ayatollah:

How old was he because this news is a bit of a shock?

RIP to someone who I would have thought 99 per cent of City fans knew about
I was shocked when I saw this on facebook this morning.

I used to stand in front of him , well just far enough away from him in Ninian Park to still enjoy the game , some of the things he said (shouted) were quite unintentionally funny , if I did occasionally upgrade to a seat once, again I was wary of being too close to Dai.
A true character , a true Cardiff City stalwart to the cause.
          RIP Dai .

He would have been 66 or 67.

He was in my year group at Whitchurch High School.

            Lived in Rhiwbina.

Only just heard about this. Very sad news.

Perhaps someone could correct me if I am wrong. Apart from being a legendary Cardiff fan, there were a few occasions that stick in my mind.
              • Taking part in Pointless
              • Serving drinks at the Liberty Stadium in his Cardiff baseball cap
              • Coming off his 'scooter' on the M4(?) then being treated in Swansea

One of his jobs, would be about 30 odd years ago I s’pose, was sticker upper in the Masons ( must have been oldest sticker upper in Cardiff). Of course we ripped the piss out of him every roll, a continuous ‘You Jack bastard’, inevitably he lost it. Chucking pins all over the shop, ‘I’m more of a City fan than any of you f*ckers’ amongst other insults chucked at us. Thing is he was right I s’pose, HE was more of a City fan than most.

This news has come out of the blue for us fan - does anyone know if his demise was sudden or at the end of an illness?

                    RIP Dai, Pointless legend.

That's not an insult, he appeared on the Pointless BBC program)

The Pantmawr Inn posted a little tribute to him on FB earlier, so seemingly quite well-known there too.

I remember him when he was not much more thana schoolboy standing behind me on the Bob bank shouting at the players. When seats were installed he sat some distance away but I still heard him. Very sad news to hear of such a devoted fan passing away relatively young.

                                Genuinely hard to believe.

He lived near me and I regularly saw him walking, or on the bus - last week, near Asda was the last time we spoke.
