I'm not saying Tyrer is bad, but I think teams like Real Betis and the third-best team in Poland are more dangerous than the likes of Cambridge United.

Tyrer is a downgrade on Trott because Trott is playing, and Tyrer isn't

Daf and Glen reporting we're confident of signing Trott now...

Cardiff City are in talks to make Nathan Trott a permanent signing following the goalkeeper's promotion-winning season on loan from Copenhagen.

But you cannot deny that Copenhagen think Trott is not good enough for them at present, just like Everton decided Tyrer is not good enough to play for their first team. All I’m saying is that I was quite impressed by Tyrer on Saturday and, based on what I’ve seen from Blackpool fans i wouldn’t see it as a disaster if we started next season with him as our first choice.

But everyone loves a Tryer (in before TBG!)

I think Tyrer is a good second choice, but too risky as a first. I think Trott has proven himself this season, despite a few lesser performances, but they were never horrific performances, just mediocre at worst, and game-winning in a lot of games at best.

I thought he had an impressive game. He looked more assured than Trott, his distribution was both more accurate and quicker. I know it was a one off game but there were plenty of positives.

Yeah perhaps Tyrer is a gem.

However, lets not undersell how bloody good Trott has been for us this season and how much of a boost it would be to retain him.

I think we are kidding ourselves if we say anything different.

Trott has undoubtedly made some great saves, particularly instinctive ones. On the negative side his distribution can be a problem, his punching is not a strong point and he been caught out at set pieces.
Can we do better. Quite possibly.
Would it be good if he stayed as part of building an improving squad- yes it would.

Some posters are questioning Trotts distribution.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Like when we played Chelsea and they tried to put him under pressure in the first 5 or so minutes.

Er, that is, until he first sold their striker a dummy and then later on flicked the ball out to Bagan with the outside of his foot…

I think the point people may be trying to make with Trott’s distribution is when he has to kick it long he’s quite wayward. His short range stuff is impressive and for me it’s odd how he struggles to be accurate over longer distances

I think the main point is that he isn’t irreplaceable

Can understand that he wants to play in the euro matches ....we won't be there for some time
