There was an article in the paper the other day about the "small" counties losing players to counties hosting the Hundered. It was on the back of Jordan and Salt leaving Sussex for Surrey and Lancashire. It mentioned that Glamorgan were willing to pay £30k comp for Critchley. Presume it would be a similar arrangement for du Plooy given that he's under contract as well.
Think Critchley is the more likely - I’m not sure if it is, but £30k seems a lot for a county like Glamorgan.

Although I wasn’t too impressed with his bowling in the Hundred, it’d be good to have a leg spinner on the books - am I being unkind to Labuschagne there?

Worst four day performance of the season. At least it’s going into a third day.

Du Plooy was a Kolpak player which means that since Brexit he would now be regarded as an overseas player However he apparently has a Hungarian passport which means that he has pre settled status and and can live and work as a UK National for the next 5 years after which he can acquire British Citizenship.

A middle order of Labuschagne, Carlson and Du Plooy doesn't look bad at all.

Glamorgan sign Somerset batsman Ed Byrom on a two-year deal, with an immediate move on loan in time for their Championship match at Durham.

I’d say it’s an avarage average (sorry) in the modern game - opening’s been a bit of a thankless task in the last five to ten years.

I wonder if Selman is going back to Australia and not getting a new contract. Overall he has done enough to get another couple of years.

Selman included in Glamorgan's team at Durham today as well as new boy Byrom, but no improvement in their fortunes - 85-6 after being put in with Rutherford getting more than half of the runs, but looking at these lunchtime scores, apart from a couple of exceptions, Glamorgan's score looks about par for the course;-

Glad they did better against Durham and Essex in the One Day Cup semi final and final.

The fact that he didn't open today suggests he won't be with Glamorgan next year, I think.

Glamorgan really have some pretty poor players in the red ball game and Lloyd is on that list right now. Getting a thorough pasting at Durham.

Maynard gave them a free pass after the Essex hammering. Not this time please. It hasn’t been a contest.

I had been thinking of driving down for the last home game but based on recent performances don't think i'll bother. Glam CCC is a bit like a pub serving flat beer. Upper management definitely carry the can and the lack of activity to shake things up is very unprofessional. Who wants to go and watch a team getting permanently battered?

We won a National tournament a couple of weeks ago and it’s beginning to look like our season effectively ended that day. While that shouldn’t really happen, I can understand it in a way, because, while the current four day format is working well for the top six sides, there is little riding on the Second and Third tiers. Glamorgan were competitive in the first phase of the Championship and we did well to finish third in a group where we were seeded to come fifth I believe - we may not be finishing it well, but I think this has been Glamorgan’s best season for a few years.

The four day performances were excellent but these last two games have been dreadful.Players like Lloyd, Selman, Cooke, Carlson etc need to be consistent over a full season. Overall a good season but important to do much better in the last two games.
