Good to get that win after a few wobbles over the four days.

Tough games left, with the derby game looking like a decider. But like you I fancy the lancs games will call it - 2 leg play off for promotion!! Nobody won at old Trafford yet this season, including the home team!!

I remember when Sophia Gardens hosted those two Ashes test matches there were plenty of former Lancashire players in the media questioning why we were getting games and the far better Old Trafford wasn’t. Well, instead of trying to turn their ground into a huge hotel, maybe Lancashire cricket club should be trying to do something about their pitch which has been holding back the county team for a few years now because it’s almost impossible to get anything other than a draw there. I thought the pitch for the test match was awful and, if it was down to me, I’d be telling Lancashire they have to start producing better pitches if they want to maintain their test match status.

They're pretty arrogant about Old Trafford - but they couldn't organise the crowds at all in the first 2 days - massive queues and people who'd paid a lot for tickets not getting in until 2 hours after the start.

The club said they should have arrived earlier.

Our pitch was slated too from memory Bob.
There was a big hoo ha about us getting the test and the media couldn't wait to pick faults whenever they could.
The draw with Monty Panesar seeing off Aussie's finest for a draw goes down as one of the great Ashes tests and it lasted the full five days.

It is a tough one to call whether the Old Trafford pitch isn't up to standard.
There were enough opportunities for England to have won the last Test, for example Root dropping a pretty regulation slip catch very early on in Shubman Gill's innings. If that sticks then it could well have been curtains for India. Their use of DRS then became a little desperate when the Indian batsmen got in and England ran out of reviews when they could well have capitalised.

I personally like to see a Test match go the full five days rather than see the pitch doing too much and the game being over inside three.
Modern technology helps the fielding side enough these days and it's nice to see the captain try and find different ways of taking wickets if the pitch or conditions aren't favourable.

I've been a frequent critic of the Sophia Gardens pitches for four day games in recent seasons, but, compared to Old Trafford, they're fine. As I say, the wicket at Old Trafford puts Lancashire at a disadvantage and, with their need to win this game much greater than Glamorgan's, I reckon we'll be delighted if we turn up today and it's what has become a normal Old Trafford track. Looking at the forecast up there for the next four days, today's going to be murky with a light drizzle a possibility for most of the day and there's a chance of thundery showers on Thursday, so, it seems to me that th best chance of getting a positive result is to stick the opposition in today, safe in the knowledge that it'll be almost impossible for the team batting fourth to get bowled out when you consider that only two wickets fell in the last five sessions of the test match! I agree that it's good to see test matches go into their fifth day, but based on what happened from Saturday lunchtime onwards, this latest one would have had to go into a seventh day, at least, before we saw a positive result.

Pretty solid start 91-1 with Tribe getting to 50. To pick up on Bob's point shows how much Jimmy Anderson loves the game having done it all to be chucking it down through the Championship on those wickets.

I was listening to the game for a few minutes this morning and they were talking about Jimmy Anderson’s four over opening spell which they figured was down to a combination of the pitch and the Kookaburra ball.

Good start after being asked to bat in what should be helpful seam bowling conditions - shame El Hassan seems unable to get past the first hour or so.

Think we won the toss and batted. Just lost 2 quick ones.

So we did, I’m sure I heard them saying we’d been put in to bat this morning. Anyway, we should have put them in because we’re six down now and heading for a score that’ll be well under par for Old Trafford.

                          Make that seven down.

Slightly off topic, but nice to see Kent deducted eight points for repeated poor conduct after their clown show last week.

Kent are docked eight points in the County Championship after a fourth incident of poor conduct this season.
