  • Re: GLAMMY

England might not be taking much notice, but at least we get to enjoy him for another three years:

In form England Lions batter and Jersey international Asa Tribe signs a new contract with Glamorgan until 2028.

Excellent news. On the basis that the England top 7 continue to implode what’s the chances of him sneaking a go at the top of the order for the 5th test. Stranger things…….

I was actually thinking that myself, but I believe he's already signed up to play in the South African T20 during the fourth and fifth tests (unless he's joining up with them later?)

Surely he’d change that if there was a sniff?

Just seen that Hugh Morris has passed away. Been ill for quite a while. Superb opening batsman when Glamorgan were a major force. RIP Hugh.

brilliant opener deserved more caps but was the wrong side of the bridge those days

Was the driving force in bringing Ashes Test cricket to Cardiff and also worked tirelessly towards the redevelopment of Sophia Gardens.

                    St Helens suffered mind you.

Massive shock - played under 16s cricket with him at Cardiff - top person and a genuinely nice guy - remember seeing him a few years later and him going out of his way to talk to me and my wife - so sad

Sad to hear, but, as remarked above, he didn’t enjoy the best of health after retiring from the game. He and Steve James (who lost his daughter a few years ago) have to be Glamorgan’s best ever opening pair and I’d say the 1997 Championship team that they both played for was their best ever side.

                          RIP

Agree. The 97 team was a joy to watch. James and morris were a fantastic opening partnership. When you watch Crawley after his years of chances, amazing that Hugh morris got 3 caps!! But it was all the better for glammy.

Very sad news. Hugh was a class act in every way by all accounts. Excellent player for Glam.
