Things like this are very depressing. Honestly though, I would just very quickly get it patched up and not make a fuss. Wanton vandals often seek publicity, and racists will try and create division; either way. Spruce it up and don't let them win.

There was a fair bit of crap placed in and around poor old Nye Bevan stature which was upsetting , don't think folk like statues, murals or history these days .
