Chelsea were a fairly nondescript midtable club, but if i recall correctly (which is by no means guaranteed) they were more or less instantly elevated amongst the elite when the russian money arrived.
Man City took a little bit longer to get to the top, it seemed they struggled to attract big signings as quickly, and there was one more big club up there in the form of Chelsea. Of course having all that money has to tell eventually.

Newcastle are now trying to compete with Chelsea and Man City + the traditional big clubs, so it is already a more crowded scene, and at a time when even a newly promoted side can splash 100m on players and go straight back down. suspect that they may take that little bit longer to establish themselves at the top.

Chelsea were already much improved on and off the pitch in the late 90s. Well before Abramovich showed up. Of course, his money pushed them over the hump. But they were streets ahead of where Newcastle are now when he took over.

We’ve barely skimmed the surface in Cardiff itself….if 10% followed us that would be 40,000 people, let alone Barry, penarth etc which are all but connected anyway. It’s hardly surprising, the club does little to market itself in the city, but it will put on buses to the valleys to get them here.

When the Valley Rams were fully up and running the number of coaches running from all over South Wales showed what could be done and our support potential .

Let's be fair football is a corrupt business , folk love watching big games like PSG V Man City , saying wow what a feast , both owned by dubious countries , I also find it ironic that today's moder crusading footballers who speak on many injustices are happy to take the buck off these owners.

And many players between them they could put a huge dent into the poverty of some third world countries, Instead of picking up wages from countries sponsoring their clubs whilst atrocities occur in those very countries. Quatar and its alleged cruelty and slave labour just to build world Cup stadium so footballers feel comfortable.

Haven’t read all this, but isn’t the reason the takeover was allowed to go ahead because the FA and PL were afraid of the upcoming legal case about to be launched by Newcastle?
