  • Relegated by January ?

Could City conceivably be down and out by the time the transfer window opens in January ? There are 12 league games between now and then - taking in the New Year's Day home game with WBA. Usually a very poor side will be relegated despite creating goal scoring chances and defending well for long periods in games, but are turned over by sharper, more effective outfits. Generally teams at the bottom of their respective league will still appear to be in with a chance of getting something out of a game, but more often than not failing to come up with the goods. My own view of the team is that currently, being a club with a chance of winning/drawing the odd game is something they can aspire to, but not achieve. This run hasn't come about through moments of bad luck, refereeing decisions, missed chances, it's simply being completely outplayed week in week out, without having any period in any match where you think we've got a chance of getting something out of it.
Maybe I've overdone the glass-half-empty bit, but surely if we fail to get a minimum of 3 points from our next 3 games, you've got to wonder where the they're going to come from..

I wouldn’t say we’d be down in January (I can’t ever remember that happening to anyone in my life), but we’ve lost eight games in a row whilst scoring once (that was a consolation goal when the game was beyond us) and conceding nineteen - if another side has a record like that going into November, we’d be saying they were certs for relegation.

Other stats like the lack of first half goals, just two goals scored that weren’t headers and the second worst defensive record in the division (despite us constantly being told we have good central defenders) offer more evidence that any talk of us being in a false position is miles wide of the mark - actually, I’ll change that, we are in a false position because we should be lower in the table than we are.

I checked earlier in the week and you could get 9/2 on us getting relegated. Almost like printing money.

Thats an incredible price. Should be more like 2/9.

I think we could be all but down come the window. The squads a mess. We need the youngsters to save us and probably Morrison and Ralls to be back to their best and playing week in week out.

Well we are not 6 points adrift

There is enough quality in this squad to stay up

Forest were dead in the water not that long ago , Swansea have got a couple of wins and they are having an open top bus tour of the mumbles

We clearly need a good manager in pronto to sort things out

I took 14/1 two weeks ago . As the OP stated we were looking like a side going for relegation . In one game we were still in the game and broke through the oppositions defence , shot beat the keeper , hit the underside of bar , bounced onto the post … and came out . That’s the sign of things are going against you and relegation is looming .
Hopefully a new manager will mean I lose my bet . Perhaps Steve Morrison will get a tune out of our rickety team .

I can understand why the OP is asking the question, as I think we can all recognise that we are in a bit of a slump at the moment, one where it is difficult to find a glimmer of hope. However, you make a very good point about getting a person in to quickly address the issues in a positive manner, especially with the Forrest analogy.

It was great that some blindly supported MM despite it being obvious he didn’t have the talents to get our team motivated and winning …

Odds are fair, still think it's unlikely over the whole season. But if you think we continue this form then yes it's worth the punt.

Bet with your head I agree but I hate betting against city. Or betting for them for that matter

We are one or two players short of a side that should stay up easily. That position can (or should) be sorted in the January window. I see no reason to surrender the season just yet. We'll be okay.
