....and bingo they bloody chase it down with seven balls to spare. Annoying.

Good win for the aussies. Not sure what Guptil and Williamson were doing in the early stages. Kane managed to explode afterwards, but the damage those 2 did early meant nz couldn't get to where they should have been. That Glenn Phillips is a funny one, looked unbelievable 8/9 months ago, his one man demolition job on glamorgan was just one of many six hitting masterpieces. He's struggled to go at more than a run a ball the last few months though. Think nz missed out big time by not getting Neesham earlier, although I think the aussies would have chased down 20/30 more if they had too. Great game of cricket. Only a year til the next t20 world aswell !

Yep way too easy for Aussie, they did an Italy start tournament slowly ,build, and peak at the right moment.

Just knew it was going to happen. I’ve never been much of a fan of the Australian cricket side, but, after all of the pious words when Phil Hughes died, they promptly went back to being as bad as they’ve ever been when it comes to sledging - seems to me there’s always been an extra edge to Aussie sledging you don’t get from other countries and while I reckon everyone did their share of ball tampering, it was typical that they were the ones who were caught.
Their reaction to the ball tampering was cringeworthy and that behind the scenes documentary supposed to show them in a sympathetic light did the exact opposite to me - Steve Smith, fantastic batsman, but a very strange person.

Still haven't watched that documentary, will have to find it. But I wonder if it's that strangeness that makes him the batsman he is. His batting is all nervous energy, little prods and dabs. Full of tics and rituals in between balls to keep his concentration. Marnus Labuschagne is a bit similar, although a more classical strokemaker

Yes, I think there's something to what you say about Smith and, although batsmanship has changed an awful lot from the days when I was a kid, I still don't see many coaches trying to get their charges to switch to his technique, it's highly individual and I'm fairly sure it wouldn't work for everyone.

Very true, its certainly unique. I'd imagine a few have tied themselves up in knots trying to emulate it. Always got the impression that he still spends a ridiculous amount of time practising his batting aswell. The way his very promising legspin has all but disappeared makes me think he has been laser focused on his batting

Don't think you would find many coaches approving the techniques of some of the England test team, Burns and Bairstow come to mind.
