Oh bollox - now I've gone and broadcast my ignorance of baseball/basketball/'football' or some other American sport.

    The shame!

Maybe time to form a support group with Hilts?
    I'll join to :hehe:

He’ll be a 1st ballot Hall of Fame selection as soon as he’s eligible. No doubt about it. The greatest QB of all time.

              Re: Tom Brady retiring

Why is he retiring at 44? Let’s face it he’s never run more than 5 yards in any game he’s played, never made a tackle, never kicked the ball and when his team is not in possession ambles off for a cup of coffee and a cigar and phones his wife. According to the Wall St. Journal the average time an American Football team has possession in any game is 11 minutes. Surely Brady at that rate could make it to 65.

There are ‘special teams’ players who sometimes only get on the pitch once or twice in a game (and some never) but still get paid millions of dollars a year.

You sure that wasn't the bloody Beano. Average 11 minutes times 2 for both teams in a match is only 22 minutes. Wtf happened to the other 38 minutes (even allowing for special teams)

Have you seen the beating a QB takes when the pocket collapses? If it's so easy, why don't you have a go?

On the basis Barry Bonds, the all time home run leader never got into the MLB HOF because of drug allegations that were never proved, I wonder if Deflategate will be a barrier!

Not a chance. He's in as soon as he becomes eligible.

It's ridiculous that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens didn't make the HOF. If the seasons when they were supposedly juicing were taken off their records they would have been in on the first ballot.

Look it up as its widely available on Google. Wall St Journal time ball in play in an NFL game. They are talking about the average TOTAL time the ball is in play as 11 minutes. If you divide that between offence and defence that equates to 5.5 minutes each. You only have to think how much time is spent nattering in the studio between possessions, how much time is spent with coaches etc. walking up and down the sidelines, the breaks are interminable. There are players in the NFL who throughout their playing career will NEVER EVER touch the ball, just push and shove. There are times when it becomes an offence to touch the ball.
