You only have to think how much time is spent nattering in the studio between possessions, how much time is spent with coaches etc. walking up and down the sidelines, the breaks are interminable. There are players in the NFL who throughout their playing career will NEVER EVER touch the ball, just push and shove. There are times when it becomes an offence to touch the ball.
We get it. You don't like American Football. Cool. Interesting. Edgy.

Nothing like the pounding a rugby 10 gets from a marauding back row, no padding and the game is not immediately stopped unless there is an infraction. I played a lot of rugby in my teens and twenties and at 77 I don’t fancy making a comeback, especially with the speed and power of the present game. I just content now with watching my grandsons playing at a higher level than I could ever aspire to. The best game of American football I have ever watched is in the Marx Bros. film Horse Feathers, you should check it out.

I like all sports up to a point but what gets me about NFL is that it could be a good game but it has become a slave to TV with its constant breaks, a one hour game lasting three and a quarter hours. Why does each team need a roster of 65 player, in other words 54 subs. The game has become so technically stupid with armies of players wandering off and on, 3 teams at least in one and Christ help the bloody kicker unless he’s got Netflix on the side!!

its not really 54 subs though, its players for specific jobs, like in football a defender plays in defence

most Americans I know think the 3 hour games are great, its a occasion, its a fun day out, Drive 3 hours to watch a game, its a full day

Very harsh as those were never proved.

Regardless, Tampa Tom will have his statue in Canton as soon as he’s eligible. I have no doubt in my mind about that.

“like in football a defender plays in defence” but the guy can move forward to score or make a play in midfield and when his team is attacking he doesn’t move off to be replaced by an attacker. In other words the guy is continually on the field whether in defence or attack as opposed to the lunacy of NFL when different teams are brought on for offence, defence, punts, punt receivers, and field goal teams. It’s a wonder that they get to know each other. The constant substitutions brought about by the huge roster of players makes the whole thing farcical. Statistics show that the QB is in live play for on average 5 minutes per game. Imagine defensive ends having to play 80 minutes of say South Africa v All Blacks, after 5 minutes they would be in A & E at the nearest hospital. The game has developed over the years into something so daft that only the Yanks and their college system can support it.

His list is factually inaccurate. Brady has, famously, kicked the ball. More than once.

He is a supremely talented athlete who has dominated a game that is hard wired to prevent exactly the sort of dynasty he created. A true winner. You can't compare him to Ronaldo or whatever, but for people to dismiss him because they don't understand the game he plays is a bit daft. He almost pulled off an incredible comeback last weekend too. Their rally from such a big deficit was only possible because of the sheer scale of Tom Brady. He knew it was possible, his team knew it was possible because of him, and the other team knew it was inevitable because TB12 was on the other team. That sort of influence is really very rare. He's a legend.

The fact that Rodgers and Mahomes can't get in done like Brady did speaks volumes. They both have attributes that Brady doesn't, but he's got the rings.

It's ridiculous that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens didn't make the HOF. If the seasons when they were supposedly juicing were taken off their records they would have been in on the first ballot.
Crazy mate. Steroids can’t make you a better baseball player in terms of technique, but Brady was actually priced to have cheated! Double standards or what?

On a side note I saw Brady once, he lived with his supermodel missus just opposite the MArtin guitar shop in Greenwich village and saw him out fir a jog chased by 2 dozen paps!

I agree that Tom Brady in his chosen sport is a legend and probably could have excelled at most sports but the sport that chose him has evolved into a farcical demonstration of how technology and the pressures of the need for TV revenue can shape its development.
