I was working on a McAlpine site some years ago and the block work was 40mm out over 3mts. For the first time ever i had to book against the Brickies, ****ing hated doing it but was going to pull the wall out 25mm to soften the line a bit, 40mm too much and it would crack. Anyway, in walked the brickie and it was my 1st cousin. He still murders me for it now, the rough ****

40mm!!! Are you sure it wasn’t the springing point for an arch?

Oi, don't get technical with me It was the top three blocks and i felt a right twat as i knew that the prices were shit and the had probably banged the blocks up a bit early in order to earn there money. We've all been there. Twats used to come around with a measuring rule and i would wait for them and follow the around while they measured up. Windows and door openings measured as solid due to setting in beads and heads, reveals etc. they would try and stitch us up and then stop us 5% retention for snagging. Bastards.

I would always work in both imperial and metric, mix it up when I do jobs now I still do it, might give a measurement in inches and tenth next in mm, maybe the next in cm makes me chuckle

I do that. Also 'A Gnats Cock' and 'A Smidgen' are well known technical terms used in measuring

It just sounds like a load entomological cock-waving to me. I had to look up stucco and like the example "they've wisely refused to stucco these antique walls"

They should be fluent in at least two languages before university if we taught it properly in schools. The discussion about construction is actually exactly the same principles of the building blocks, problem-solving, doing things in a logical order, and testing an end goal. People think coding is beyond them but they learn English which is bloody complicated and doesn't have the logistical rules that a computer language has.

What's the difference between a Gnats' cock and a Gnats' dick?

                            One of them is circumcised?
