Re: WILL MICK BE HAPPY WITH THE SQUAD OR?

The day before he was sacked by Apoel he signed an Irish central midfielder called Jack Byrne from Shamrock Rovers. I've seen that lad play a few times in the Europa League and he's exactly the type of player we need - dynamic, tenacious, gets all over the pitch, excellent set piece delivery, and he can actually pass the ball. He was at Man City as a youngster and I think his career went off the rails a bit due to personal problems but he seems to have overcome that and he's still only 24.

McCarthy gave him his national team debut and their relationship was essentially the main reason he signed for Apoel. Since McCarthy left the new manager hasn't picked him. I don't know the FIFA rules on a player moving twice in the same window but could be a possibility of a loan signing?

I would expect a loan or two, possibly a free but I very much doubt any fees will be paid.

He'd be a very good signing in my opinion. Just the ticket to bridge the gap until Lee Tomlin is fit at the very least .

Given the amount of time he's under contract for, I would agree - permanent signings with long contracts would, surely, give a signal as to what the Board's real intentions are in the summer.
