Yes they have spent good money but they haven’t gone Man City with the likes of Robinho when they arrived. You don’t look at the team and squad and think that’s worth a fortune. They have been clever and improved who they have and added.

Don't forget Howe took Bournemouth through the all four leagues at a rapid pace without spending too much money. My guess is once he reached the Premier League he realised that you needed management skills PLUS money to succeed, so well done Newcastle for taking the chance and proving his theory was correct.

        Re: Eddie Howe

Newcastle are putting the frighteners on a few of the so-called 'big sides', and every other Premier club as well. With their financial backing, they can buy whoever they want, and it won't be long before they are top three on a regular basis. Even the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd will probably be forced to drop down the pecking order.
I think a similar thing will happen (eventually) at Sunderland. Huge fanbase, etc, etc. They're the next one to be bought up and pushed up the table.

They will need a Top 4 finish to attract the big names, as most of the top players are obsessed with Champions League football.

            Re: Eddie Howe

Just watched a rerun of yesterday's match against Chelsea, and the way Newcastle play out from the back is superb. If they keep this up, one of the big teams will be missing out on Champions League football next year.

The same could be said for any half decent manager.

We should have snapped him up when we had the chance.

                      There wasn't a time.

Just a few on here mentioned him as a viable option. Was never going to happen.

Moneybags Saudis at Newcastle or Tan's promotion on a pittance project here? Tough decision.

Should have grabbed him when he took that League 2 gig.

He turned down Celtic and a few lower end PL clubs didn’t he?

Spent £100m to get them where they are now, compared to 12 months ago. Let’s not forget that. The media seemed to let that slip under the radar

Chelsea spent that on one player.

You have a point, seems very little for such a huge turn around.
