  • Relegated teams

Assuming it is 3 from Peterborough, Derby, Barnsley and Reading.

Which players from those teams would you want to bring here in the summer?
I think there are a few decent ones at the last of those 3, but I'm not sure I'd have anyone from Peterborough

    Re: Relegated teams

There was a left sided midfielder who scored for Peterborough against us in August called Burrows who impressed me earlier in the season, he's only nineteen or twenty and has, apparently, signed a long term contract with them, but transfermarket has his value at £450k. There's also a youngster with the surname Jade-Jones who's a striker who has being doing quite well for them recently it seems.

Liked the Derby player who was alongside Curtis Davies down here recently - Cashin? Pretty sure we wouldn't get Ebosele if we were interested. Bird and Knight could be possibilities, but I don't think I'd bother with Lawrence.

Always quite liked Brittam of Barnsley . Styles would probably be out of our price range, maybe Morris up front?

Always thought Yiadom was a good full back for Barnsley and Reading and I keep on remembering Josh Laurent's brilliant performance for Shrewsbury againstLiverpool a few years back, but I notice his contract's up this summer and Pearcey wasn't bothered about Reading letting letting him go.

Derby I'd take Knight, Bird, Sibley, or Ebosele, but I think theyll all have plenty of offers for them if they need to sell.

Barnsley Styles, Woodrow, or their centrebacks Andersen and Helik might be worth a shout.

Reading Swift, Joao (if he can stay fit), Ejaria

Peterborough, nobody really stands out for me.

Ricky-Jade Jones, Ronnie Edwards and Harrison Burrows from Peterborough. Three good young players.

Derby? I think their players are higher profile so would be harder to get. I think Jason Knight's contract may be up soon while Bird & Sibley would be good additions to the midfield

Woodrow at Barnsley may be a decent forward acquisition. I thought Josh Benson was good against us while Styles & Brittan are both good players, Andersen's a good defender.

I'd like Tom Holmes off Reading, contract's up this summer. Swift will be off to the Premier League I suspect

          Re: Relegated teams

After the way he started the season you'd have said that Swift was a cert for the premier league, but he's slowed down a little bit and been a regular part of a pretty bad side this season.

Still 10+ goals and assists is a great achievment, so if he doesn't get a premier league team it'll almost certainly be one of the parachute payment teams looking to have a push at promotion.

I'd take Lawrence from Derby if he continues playing the way he is

I think our market will be frees and loans.

Weve no chance of getting the likes of Knight and a few others mentioned.

How Tommy laughed at the Kev McNaughton song knowing that some wives were preventing their husbands going down the City, ripping posters of him off bedroom walls etc etc

Yids is a decent full-back. Very committed. Poor crossing though.

Laurent has been disappointing this season. Some very sloppy passing leading to goals gifted to the opposition. Not the same energy as last season.
Not been anywhere near where he was last season.

Ejaria is an odd one. So much ability yet so little end product. Constantly in and out of the side with covid and niggly injuries but just two goals this season and I’m not sure he has any assists. It’s a very poor return for someone so gifted

Joao on his day is fabulous. Very skilful, strong on the ball and a fine finisher. When he’s not on his day he looks hopeless. Overall he isn’t far off averaging a goal every two games though which is terrific but you can always count on him to miss a big chunk of each season with injuries.

Holmes has really struggled and been at fault for a number of goals. Often outjumped or left flat footed. He may improve though as he is still young.

How are you feeling? Barnsley are looking a different outfit now. And you go there on April 2nd.

When we beat Barnsley I thought they were a lot better than expected. Terrible in the final third but confidence is a huge thing. I’d love them to stay up.
