Derby have always had good attendances at this level, often 30k+ if they're having a decent season.
this gives them a few million quid a year more to spend, which should start to tell over time (if they were well run).

Derby is a small city, smaller than Cardiff we should be getting those kind of attendances regularly as well, but we've not got as large a core fanbase for whatever reason

Don’t forget that Man Utd had 75k and Morecambe had 5k.

Since we’re apparently listing off attendances with no context.

They’ve spent about 70 years in the top flight and we’ve spent 15. They’ve won the title twice in the 70’s while we were a Div2/Div3 team. At the same time they were Champions League semi finalists and playing in Europe.
They have bigger crowds because they’re a bigger and more successful team than us.

yes of course that's all true.
for the last 20 years they haven't been much better than us though have they?
can we get upto their level of attendance without that kind of success?
or how long a period of lack of success would it take for derbys crowds to fall as low as ours (and others at this level)?

I think the club could certainly do more to build attendances, a real shame about the result on the weekend as it was a big crowd and not many of the less regular attendees are going to want to hurry back on that evidence.

              Re: Yesterday Attendance V Others

3pm Saturday KO and not on TV (first time since can’t be bothered to find out when) will have boosted the numbers a bit.

Hope this can be the norm going forward - just not the dead rubber aspect.

Do agree that was the point of my post, Derby are well relegated, and still get better crowds than us , sadly it takes an emotional derby game , for us to generate over 23k
