Re: And They Were Singing …….
Of course but the club could quite easily work with the fans groups and the old bill to make people feel uncomfortable singing itOriginally posted by J R Hartley View PostVery loud in the section of upper Ninian I was in on Saturday. It is what it is, they are not going to arrest or boot out hundreds/thousands of people singing it.
But after being told how angry many many fans are about the song and the shame and disgust it brings upon decent fans they have talked a good game but are doing nothing about it whatsoever .
They are pathetic and impotent and a busted flush and that goes for the club and the police .
The next time I see you on crimewatch I am saying nothing .

The song pales into insignificance compared the Aberfan chant away fans used to sing and nothing was done about that either.Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostSo we just accept this song because so far the club have done nothing about it and certain fans can't be bothered?
This club is a shambles

It wouldn't be original but as I quite like the Creedence Clearwater - bad moon rising, this version from Argentina fans has always stuck in my head. It could be an easy one to get going, obviously with city related lyrics.Originally posted by TWGL1 View PostOur song repertoire is terrible these days, no originality.
“I’ll be there” is original though I guess and my favourite
It's probably sung by fans over here but I'm not sure I've heard it.

Very catchy, very impressive, could our fans sort out something like that?….in a nutshell..Nada!Originally posted by Trigger View PostIt wouldn't be original but as I quite like the Creedence Clearwater - bad moon rising, this version from Argentina fans has always stuck in my head. You don't have to accept it, doesn't mean anything can be done to stop thousands doing it. I agreed with JR, hence my exactly reply to his post.Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostSo we just accept this song because so far the club have done nothing about it and certain fans can't be bothered?

Like I said before, it happens away, less people go to them games and it would be easier to point out to people there, the ones that take offence to it would have more chance of getting their point across on the busses and make their point in the away stands, as far as things have gone it doesn't seem to happen does it and nobody vents their anger on away busses or you'd think something may come of it and people may realise the offence it causes some fans. Again, I don't see how the police can do anything to stop it.
You'll just chase your tail round on this one as you always do, saying the same thing over and over, you're wasting your time, you'll just say i don't care etc to try and keep an Internet argument alive, rinse repeat.

Re: And They Were Singing …….
A few times this season Rob Phillips has been commentating on our games and the chant has come up. His reaction has always been that it's our take on Hymns and Arias, pretty much filing it in the 'banter' folder.Originally posted by dembethewarrior View PostYou don't have to accept it, doesn't mean anything can be done to stop thousands doing it. I don't like the chant particularly, but it was noticeable on Saturday that the only time we, as a crowd, sang over their fans was once they started Hymns and Arias. I remember packets of sweets, cheesy smile chants to various away players and managers.
It's always been a den of inappropriate nonsense designed to try and put off the opposition. Never works.

Also remember the packet of sweets chant, don't remember much fuss over it by any teams fans either.

Re: And They Were Singing …….
They have yet to come out and acknowledge its an offensive chant and that its not acceptableOriginally posted by Eric the Half a Bee View PostSo what should the club do?
After doing that they need to be proactive instead of sitting on their arses . A lot of football fans can't read but signs , hopefully only temporary , in the ground and on the TV screens saying that the club wants this stopped or something along those lines will be a start .
But it needs reinforcing . So more of that and leaflet drops in the Canton end etc
Cardiff City has an official supporters club . Leaflet the travellers on there and also leaflet the independent travelling groups that meet with the club and the police .
Absolutely NONE of this has been done
It's a complete joke and sums up CCFC , same old story over the years . It was raised at a meeting when the club was contacted by fans over the matter ......and since then , diddley squat
So first of all acknowledge its a problem .....and it certainly is ......then publicise that its not acceptable and keep at it
That would be a start.
Mass arrests may not even be needed and I certainly hope these idiots become a small embarrassment to themselves .
Doing nothing is not an option . When Southampton fans ......well 3 of them ......did Sala aeroplane gestures the city away end was trying to get at them and were rightly angered. Southampton fans identified those responsible , shopping their own fans .
But our lot ? Well we just shrug our shoulders and some say there is nothing we can do . Well I think that's a cop out and bullshit . We can start by getting the club to acknowledge the problem .
But with Cardiff City it's the same old fans whether it be the trust or other individuals taking action and others just sitting on their hands expecting someone else to do it .
It takes 5 minutes to e mail the club yet people spend hours on here posting .
Cometh the hour and all that .
What do you think we should do and what do you thinkmthe club should do ?

The fact that other clubs fans don't make much fuss over chants about child abuse is not a reason to do f all about itOriginally posted by dembethewarrior View PostThey do the same on sky.
