Poor bugger, she goes out for a nice walk and has old blokes in cars staring at her everywhere she goes.

In the mid-sixties there used to be a an unfortunate elderly chap (with some sort of mental health problem) who seemed to run, and at a forward-leaning angle, endlessly around the Caerau Lane area. Being kids, we had little understanding or empathy and referred to him as 'Roger Bannister'.
And another elderly lady used to pass by, check my brother's arm muscles and refer to him as 'The Rock of Gibraltar' each time.
The two characters used to get in the way of our street footy games that took in the street and the pavement at the junction of Ogmore Road and Porthcawl Road. The surrounding open-plan gardens were the touch lines but one curmudgeonly female neighbour used to rush out and confiscate the ball if it went on her otherwise featureless grass lawn. She told us that the plastic ball damaged her grass but her son used to park his mini on it when visiting!
However, she had no monopoly regarding spite. We used to have a perpetual bullshitter anomg us and when he reached a certain limit we used to take him to the end of the street, put a rope around his legs and string him up, upside down, to the castillated wall demarkating the doctor's surgery.
          Those were the days....

The shouting bloke in town, I think he might have been virtually challenged.
