Morison doesnt fancy him. It was Mick who really rated Colwill, Morison had earmarked him to be released last summer before he broke into the side under Mick 2nd half of 20/21 season.

yet he played a full 90 minutes under Morison at least 8 times and only once under Mick, in his final game against Middlesbrough

They were also raving about him being one of the best summer signings in the whole division on the back of how good he was for City, my question is was he really that good for us?

I’d definitely say he improved our midfield and gave it some of the dynamism it was lacking and his attitude was spot on. He also scored a couple of nice goals which suggested he could get quite a few more in a side that created more chances. This is something which makes it hard to gauge how good a young player who has been in our team in the last few seasons might be - given the serious limitations of many of our players, you’d have had to be something really special to have stood out in our team.

Nevertheless, I felt a tiny bit disappointed with Doyle by the time he left us because there were games where he made little contribution, his form seemed to fade as his spell with us went on and, frankly, his much heralded dead ball deliveru was pretty poor throughout.

I appreciate a lot of what he went through in the last few months of the season was new to him and I shouldn’t lose sight of how young he is still - I’d have him back here like a shot and I’m sure he’ll play plenty of Premier League football in his career, but, as I said before, I had that slight feeling of disappointment about him at the of his time here.
Decent player, very neat and tidy. Not sure if he will kick on though. Would have him back but not sure he’s a stand out in the division.

Re Colwill, he’s too good to be a bit part but god knows where he fits in with the signings we’ve made

          Re: Tommy Doyle.

only 20 and people are getting a bit sniffy because he didn't single handedly turn around a pretty bad team last year, after barely playing until February.
if he'd come through our academy people would be singing his praises.
probably won't become a first team player for man city, but there probably weren't any players in this division last year you'd say we're likely to do that.
could easily go on to be a decent premier League player, think he'll do well there

if we play 4-2-3-1 at times I can see colwill getting plenty of game time.
just because we've played 2 matches with 4-3-3 it doesn't mean we will continue with that once everyone is fit

              I don’t.
Why have Man City loaned him out then and not sold him ?. They obviously see something in him. He has plenty of time.

Now that is utter bollocks. You just made all that up.

Unless I was told, I'd never have thought he was a product of Man City's academy. Struggled for pace, lacked the strength that PL players have, and went missing for long periods in the game.

if they sold him now it would only be for a couple of million tops. if he turns in to a top player at this level then you're talking 20 million

                      Re: Tommy Doyle.

Doyle was a better option for us in midfield than Bacuna, Pack, and Vaulks, but I didn't really see anything to suggest that he's much more than a decent Championship midfielder at this stage of his career.

Whats playing the full 90 got to do with anything? Substitutions are part and parcel of the game, especially for forward / attacking players.

Colwill started 5 + 7 subs, so featured in 12 out of 14 or 85% of league games under Mick last season.

He started just 10 + 12 subs out of 32 for Morison, featuring in 64% of the games after Mick left. A drop of 21%. Plus, most of those starts / 90 minutes were end of season dead rubbers, result didnt matter according to the likes of you.

Believe what you want, its no secret Morison is not a big fan, and he was nearly released but for Mick. I dare say if we get a half decent bid he will be gone.

Sorry, i'm a bit confused, you are talking about Colwill? My head is fried today If so, then i completely agree with you. I don't think that Morison fancies him.
