You mentioned suicide rates but that's more than just pronouns, no? If a male colleague in work wanted to be known as she and later asked to be part of the women's works rugby team then he could reason that everyone sees him as female now and should be allowed to join. Denying this would be a setback.

It is complex though. Third spaces have been suggested but have been criticised as othering trans people. It's a tricky one.

Yeah it’s not going to completely reduce suicide rates but it’s a start I think.

In terms of sports, early transitioning etc Im honestly not sure what to think.

I’ve got no problems with mixed bathrooms though, plenty of places already have them without issues.

I think the problem is both sides of the culture war want to group all these things together and it can reduce progress on the simple things like pro nouns.

I’ve said the opposite to that though, I’m not comfortable with men playing women’s sport etc.

I just don’t think mixed bathrooms are the issue some people claim since loads of them already exist without problem.

All bathrooms are mixed, aren’t they? Always have been, if you were in a B & B without en suite in the past and wanted a bath, you locked the door.

Where would you encounter a mixed bathroom nowadays? In my experience, where the public were concerned, they were on each landing in old style B & Bs. You’re not going to have a bathroom in a pub or a club or the like, are you? Couldn’t picture myself leaving my pint and nipping in with a towel, soap and shampoo for a relaxing soak.

I know that’s why it’s a nuanced discussion and not black and white.

Plenty of places have a load of cubicles with shared hand washing areas and they seem to operate without issue. But I can understand why people wouldn’t want to do away with split bathrooms completely.

I realise where the confusion is I mean mixed toilets in bars and restaurants, of which there are plenty. Not mixed bathrooms, probably been reading too much american.

Had me thinking I was using the wrong pubs, would have been quite an experience bursting in on a young lady lathering her bits.
