Cooper's future is in his own hands, but football fans are a fickle bunch and they can quickly change their tune.
I don't think owners give supporters that much credit.

If they wanted to sack him or not offer him the deal they would have easily.

He's popular with forest fans,.whether that continues the season quite possibly not. He does have an enormous lot of goodwill in the bank though considering they haven't been in the PL for 20 odd years.

I don't think he sees the season out without looking like staying up but following the contract I don't see him being sacked this side of Christmas either. Would be an utterly pointless waste of a few years salary for the owners and quite needless.

They are hoping the situation being a bit more stable helps them, if it doesn't I'd not be surprised to see them panic and spend more with a new manager in January.

Which side is that? Forest have played 9 in the league and lost 6. In fact, they have as many points after 9 games as we did after 11 with Warnock.

As far as I can figure out, the logic is that he'll be sacked if he loses to Wolves and he'll be sacked if he loses the next four out of five.

You can't get much more definitive than being sacked twice!

I factored in the games against Wolves, Brighton, Liverpool & Arsenal, and the sentiment could be quite different going into the World Cup break, hence the significance of the Wolves game. If they lose that they could be on a run of another 4 or 5 losses.

If they lost to Brighton, Liverpool and Arsenal I doubt any of their fans would think differently.

They could be looking at P14 W1 D2 L11 Pts=5 and a GD of -25 or more. You'd have to be an extremely hardcore fan to get any pleasure out of that!

But the situation would be no different to how it is today. If City were in Forest's position I'd expect us to lose those 4. If Forest beat Wolves, they'll have only 3 points less than we did after 14 games, assuming those 4 defeats.

They are playing sh*t and they can't even beat any of the teams around them. As a self-declared statto you should know the prognosis doesn't look good. They've got some decent players, but they are all devoid of confidence. I can't see anything changing with the current management and playing style, and they are worse than us when we were up there.

                        Perhaps Celtic were sniffing around.

Forest were actually playing some decent football at the start of the season, and then suddenly it all went to pot. I don't if a) they peaked, b) opposition managers worked them out, or c) the just gave up after a few poor results.

Maybe. They have a better squad of players than we had, but whether it ends up working for them is another thing.

Wolves win 1-0 and Forest missed a penalty.
