I agree it’s not a decision I would have made, even though I’m sure he got paid nicely and he’ll get a championship job in no time.
I'm sure our board are now considering it if he's available - tap into the south wales liverpool plastic fans market to get them down the city by unraveling one of their heroes.

His assistant Neil Critchley's also been sacked. Wonder where he'll go next.

He did well at Blackpool and according to Wiki "He is one of sixteen coaches worldwide to have obtained UEFA's elite badge."

Blackpool fans were very unhappy when he left. Quite smug today though!

All this 'Gerrard's destined to be Liverpool manager one day' bollocks reminds me of Bryan 'Captain Marvel' Robson's destiny to be Man Utd manager. That worked out well for him

All this proves to me is that some of the people who post on this board wouldn't recognise a good football player or manager if they tripped over him.

Managerial-wise, it was always a stupid move. He's been fired and Villa looked awful under him. Facts.
Didn’t mean to be sarky AB, sorry if it came over as that. It’s just that Villa wasn’t a bad move for him, he was never going to walk into a top, top job. He’s in such a position in the football world that the respect he’s earned would require him to commit a major felony to topple completely. Villa, as all middling Premier League relegation flirters, is always going to be a tough job, that’s why it’ll always be avoided by the top echelon. He’ll always make a living in the football world, he’s got too many mates who’ll look after him not to. He’ll most probably come out of this with many admiring him for taking on such a ‘mammoth task’.

I think it's far easier to recognise a good footballer than a good manager. Identifying a good footballer is self evident if you've been watching the game for long enough but the only thing a manager can be gauged on is success.

How would you or any other person on this board know whether a manager is good or not ? We can only go on the results his team achieves. Would you have claimed Nathan Jones was a good manager after his stint with Stoke ? I doubt you would but his record with Luton is excellent so does that now make him a good manager ? So many factors come into play when assessing football managers I don't think any of us on here are qualified to make that judgement. We can only give our opinions which whether you agree with them or not should at least be respected.

Gerrards record without Beale isn't great, it looks like he could have been the Jeremy Hunt to Liz Truss, is he a good Manager, the Jury's out!

Beale should apply for the Villa job, just for a laugh.

There's only one 'pool he'll be managing, and that's Hartlepool.
