Can you have a growth spurt on your old boy?…….Asking for a friend, not a close one mind.

Hopefully Hudson is playing a blinder with his gobbledygook and Rubin is in the match day squad.

Does it not mean that he's got a personal medical / fitness plan just like Ramsey does and needs to be hitting key targets to be ready, otherwise it's 1 step forward two steps back.

He's still a kid with hopefully years of playing for the club ahead of him, if he makes the grade. Missing a few months now is nothing in the grand scheme of it.

Growth spurt and he can't cope. Ampadu barely played for 2 years. Colwill has shot up, as well. It'll be a slow process.

But it never affected John Toshack 50 years ago 🙄

So are growth pains a recent thing then, I could have sworn they were around fifty years ago. Why is it wrong to say that, first, City have had seventeen and eighteen year olds who were regular first teamers over the past sixty years and, second, that, as far as I’m aware, it was never reported that any of them missed matches with growth pains?

I did some research on them yesterday because they’re the sort of thing people say they know about, but don’t really and something I saw more than once was that they shouldn’t last more than two years after puberty. So, they don’t tend to last beyond seventeen or so. In fact, one of the things I read said that if someone is suffering with growth pain like symptoms in their twenties, it probably isn’t them, but something else.

Anyway, my initial point was that, I’m not aware of anything from the club saying what is wrong with Colwill - there’s been vague talk of growth pains and a slip on the first back training after the international break, but it’s never been confirmed what it is that is keeping him out.

there's a big difference between growing pains, and picking up injuries because you're adapting to a larger and heavier body, I don't think anyone is saying that "growing pains" would keep a player out of action for weeks

Thinking of peter crouch and his growing pains and only just realised how funny his surname is for someone that's 8ft.

I don't know what to think about this Colwill situation, it seems very odd. Is it a case of the manager thinking that he isn't good enough? Which is hard to believe under the current circumstances. It does seem like bullshit to me. I have to say though that he's very uncoordinated at times, it does look like his brain and body doesn't work in tandem. It's all very strange.

He’s talking like the game hasn’t changed in 50 years. There used to be 1 sub, now you can make 5 and list 7.

Sports science is now a massive part of the game, 50 years ago you had the magic sponge.

If Hudson said he didn’t meet the criteria to get on the grass then we have to trust him and the specialists we have at the club. I know for a fact that Issak was rushed back to quickly because Morison was impatient and it’s done more harm than good.

This conspiracy theory that he’s not really injured and the club are hiding something is laughable.

What conspiracy theory? I’m not doubting that Colwill has been unfit to play, but it’s frustrating that the club are so reluctant to tell anyone why. It’s possible of course that they don’t know what the problem is, but Hudson was adamant he’d be okay for the World Cup when asked on Friday.

Well, that’s what I think as well, especially after what I read about growing pains. However, as I’ve said, apart from a mention of him slipping over in training, that’s the only thing I’m aware of that has been offered up as an explanation as to why he’s not playing.
