  • New owners?

Just a post designed to gauge people's general opinion of how they feel about our ownership at the moment.
I'll admit that I, personally, am starting to get very frustrated.
Aside from managerial appointments that make little sense, there is also a clear reluctance to invest any real money in the squad. Couple this with the fact that Bill and Ben (Dalman and Choo) seem to be running a totally rudderless ship with no compass, and I'm losing faith fast at the moment.

Of course, there's always the "careful what you wish for" side of it, I suppose things really could be worse... How much worse is debatable in itself though.

Is it time Tan sold up, or would you be happy for him to stay, all things considered?

The day he leaves I’ll be throwing a party.

I could take them not spending much money if there was a long term strategy. There seemed to be with Morison but then they sacked him...

The lack of “plan” in place is shocking to be fair, I have no issue with us reducing the wage bill like we have, in fact I think it was needed irrespective of the owners. You look at Beale now doing brilliant at QPR who a lot of people wanted, he hasn’t spent anything at QPR (I don’t think), yet we didn’t seem to look at him.

I suppose the club could turn around and say it was always the plan that Hudson would take over for continuity and that’s why he was put in place when Morison was appointed, I just don’t see it.

I’m not against new owners however better the devil you know is always on the mind, a lot of owners come in, promise the world and spent/waste big money only to realise they can’t do it and they vanish.

As i think i've said before. We are a play thing for the rich. An opportunity to rub shoulders with the hoy polloy of the football elite.
We have clearly been a disappointment and are now on a tight budget. We are no better better now than when he took over so whats the point of him..?

I feel that the club has got a bit stale and could do with being freshened up, so I would be happy for VT to hand over the baton to a new owner.

Not sure tan needs to go to freshen it up - get rid of Dalman and possibly choo and bring in people who will be in and around the club more often and also who have a football background

You appear to have a total lack of awareness of what Tan has done for this club over the last ten years, the amount of money he has pumped in and also the current financial state of the club, football in general and the problems everyone is experiencing due to Covid. To expect any but the richest clubs to invest heavily in their squads at this time is totally ridiculous. We actually have totally rebuilt the squad recently and spent some transfer money, plus signing on and agents fees for all the players we did bring in. Plus what is wrong with appointing managers from within, which is what we have done on the last two occasions. Clubs like Liverpool did it for many years, very successfully. Dalman and Choo have been running the club for ten years, generally very successfully and are now two of the most experienced executives in the Championship. At what point do they become experienced enough to meet your exacting criteria ? They certainly will know a great deal more about football and the running of a Championship club than ever you will. Stop continually criticising everything the club, owner, board and manager does and start doing YOUR job - supporting the team.

                    Re: New owners?

The careful what you wish for argument is a fair one as I’m still surprised that Tan paid the £1.5 million for Callum Robinson. I don’t think any fan can complain if the spending has been cut back because more than enough has been spent in the last dozen years for us to be much better off in terms of league position than we are.

However, it’s hard to avoid a feeling that the whole Tan “project” has been self defeating because it’s been hamstrung by a lack of the football knowledge needed to succeed at this level. Get people with knowledge and nous in back in 2010 and we could be established in the Premier League now having spent half of what Vincent Tan did in getting there twice.

That’s why I’d say forget about careful what you wish for - it’s hard to see us making any progress now with Tan in charge, he’s not going to change now and sadly his time here has been a huge opportunity wasted.

Oh my god. If you really believe the second part of that you are crazy. The point of him is that he is bank rolling the club in its entirety and if he walked away City wouldn't exist.

Think a change may be needed and I'd be surprised if he wasn't looking to sell. For a fair few years I don't see what's in it for him anymore. Club is stale.
