Do you really believe that ? Without a good footballing brain and a solid technique to be coached in the first place, you've got no chance of making it, no matter how fast you can run.

when I said he only really had his speed, that was a little harsh, of course he has a football brain, he has been playing ( at a elite / performance level ) since a young kid, he must have a football brain, even if its not natural, he would have been found out long before now, technique and what he should do can be coached, yes I do believe that, otherwise what's he point of coaching

          Re: Matondo

I saw Matondo go on sixty and seventy yard runs past stacks of opponents while playing for club and country when he was fifteen and sixteen. Much of that was down to his pace, but natural talent played a part as well. Given Man City signed him, I’m surprised his career has turned out like it has, but when I watch him now, two things occur to me.

First he seems unaware of where team mates are when he’s in possession and second, the football intelligence which I assumed would come through in the years of full time training he’s received is still stubbornly failing to make an appearance. It seems to me that Matondo has nothing in his game to surprise top class defenders - even when his pace takes him clear of his marker, there is still every chance that he will take a wrong option to nullify the advantage he has created.
