I'm just chatting to friends about the next generation of Welsh attacking players, particularly strikers. Do we have anybody coming through to be genuinely excited about? I just checked and didn't realise that Luke Jephcott made a loan move to Swindon in League 2 but only has 3 appearances so far this season it seems. A pal who supports Birmingham is excited by Jordan James. Isaak Davies and Ruben Colwill may well prove to have good careers but I feel that remains to be seen. Matondo hasn't exactly pulled up trees in Glasgow. Mark Harris has something but I'm not quite sure what apart from work rate. As a City fan I feel naturally pessimistic about him blossoming. So who is the natural heir to Bale and Kieffer? Who will be the next talisman for the Welsh attack?

Re: Promising Welsh players
Colwill has shown a few nice touches , great goal up at forest but sadly he's simply not on the pitch for everyone to assess him .Originally posted by Harry Bosch View PostI'm just chatting to friends about the next generation of Welsh attacking players, particularly strikers. Re: Promising Welsh players
Luke Harris at Fulham, 21 year old Jack Vale is starting to break into the first team at Blackburn, 19 year old Pat Jones doing the same at Huddersfield.
Then of course we still have the likes of Johnson, James and Wilson who are under 25. We've also got younger age groups picking up good results. We won't have another Bale, but we should be solid enough for a while

I'd start him against IranOriginally posted by Harry Bosch View PostIt's certainly going to be interesting to watch Brennan's progress now that he has established himself. Is he going to continue his progress at the same pace as he has broken through with? Let's hope so.

Re: Promising Welsh players
Yes, I don't think James is well suited to a game against Iran where we should be looking to impose ourselves on themOriginally posted by Harry Bosch View PostAgreed. I'm not sure Wilson did enough to keep the shirt and took a very heavy knock towards the end. But I'd be tempted to put him in for Dan James if Wilson is fit on account of Wilson's set piece ability and eye for a pass.
I would start him against England though

Re: Promising Welsh players
It was Leeds, Charlie Crew is captain of the Welsh under 17 that has got into the Elite Round (whatever that is) of their age group Euros - the squad had seven or eight City players in it apparently.Originally posted by ManBearPig View PostThere is the kid that Man City poached from cardiff a month or so back - Crews?
Ten according to this list.

Re: Promising Welsh players
Kieffer's only just 30 and looks like he's getting better. Should get at least another 4 or 5 years out of him hopefully. Plenty of time for more youngsters to come through. I know Brennan Johnson hasn't had the best season at Forest, but I think he's going to be a very special player. Unbelievable levels of talent and workrate

Re: Promising Welsh players
yes, quite a few good players, but not really any at that elite level, unless some of the youngsters make the leapOriginally posted by Hilts View PostFor years we always seemed to have a couple of really top players in the side Rush Hughes Ratcliffe Southall Giggs Bale Ramsey.
From what ive seen there is noone of that calibre coming through.

Re: Promising Welsh players
I think we will have a more balanced team moving forward instead of a few standout players. Saying that, Luke Harris could turn out to be better than Ramsey, and Brennan Johnson is still developing. I also like the look of Robbie Savage's boy who is already a better player than his dad!Originally posted by Hilts View PostFor years we always seemed to have a couple of really top players in the side Rush Hughes Ratcliffe Southall Giggs Bale Ramsey.
