    Re: Mark Mcguinness

I remember Arsenal fans being surprised when they let him go on a free, so, is there a sell on clause for him? I don’t think we should sell him and, if there is a sell on clause, that applies even more.

He's our player for goodness sake and if he's improved that much, which he appears to have, he will be a valuable asset to the team during a critical part of the season. As an earlier poster said, if he wasn't our player and we were signing him most of our fans would be delighted. Welcome back Mark I say.
Fair enough, but I still think we're pinning too much hope on someone who was rightly sent out on loan to a lower division club and coming back to us would be something of a risk. I think some are thinking we'd be recalling Franco Baresi.

If he left on a free, presumably his contract was terminated to allow him to leave?

He should be recalled because he improves our starting 11. He starts ahead of Ng for me. Ng moves to right back as Romeo is injured. But despite Ng's good performances, I think we've seen that 5'9" centre halves fo not work in a flat back 4 at this level.

I think we paid something like 200k for him

I agree, I’m not sure why we loaned McGuinness out in the first place. He’s what we need at the moment, decent player with a bit of fight in him

We loaned him out because he was prone to too many mistakes at that time. It was the reason why he wasn't starting many games for us. It would appear that his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday has been hugely successful for the player.
Hopefully, his career with us will now kick on, that's what any club would want from loaning a player out.

                  Re: Mark Mcguinness

The whole purpose of a loan is to develop a player. If the player isn’t coming back any better then it’s not worth being at the club.

We should be thankful that his loan went well, not criticising why he was loaned in the first place. Just a bit iffy on the replacement.

I don’t think we can say that he improves our starting XI, Ng has been good there, as has kipre.
I would try to get Drameh back on loan and another left back in and leave the central defence well alone

I like Ng but he gets bullied and outjumped when up against some of the more 'robust' and experienced forwards in this division. I like him as one of 3 CB's, but not in a 2. Truthfully, he is responsible for a few of the goals we have conceded recently, Blackpool as an example, just because he didn't have the physical presence to compete. If we are playing opposition without the traditional No.9 then I would have Ng in no problem, but MM looks a much better option with Ng at right back in the absence of Romeo.

But I would also have Drameh back in a flash.

Was thinking the same myself , with Romeo out , I would rather we got Drameh back ASAP...

He’s still a better option at centre back than NG is in my opinion. Let’s hope he cements his spot and NG can fill in elsewhere where he’s needed.

Best we get relegated rather than unsettle the poor chap.

he absolutely was not better than Ng last time he was here

Yeh. Good thinking. And he'd be used to playing in League 1. Because that's where we might be without him.
