Using historic attendances as a guide, the club (33) is ahead of Brighton (39) and Brentford (50).

I was unable to think of another capital city club in Western Europe which has just one professional football club. Both Hammam and Vinnie could see the potential.

Perhaps a better idea than protesting Tan's ownership, the Supporters Trust and others would do better identifying mega wealthy individuals and/or hedge funds to alert them of what could and should become a permanent presence in England's top tier with sufficient investment and planning.
the fact that we are a "capital city" is completely irrelevant.

we are a small provincial city in a sleepy backwater that is one of the poorest parts of the UK.
there are plenty of cities around Europe that aren't capitals that make Cardiff look like a quaint little village.

[QUOTE=Eric the Half a Bee;5383009]"First played against Brighton as a Cardiff player in Div 3. Difference between the two clubs now is huge. Cardiff two brief PL stays. Brighton a clear plan well in advance, of how to get there & stay there. "

Id say we are smaller than both Brighton and Brentford in many ways :

Both teams have a bigger pool of younger talent to scout and pull pull from .
Bigger London clubs have big imports of players freeing up young talent to be nurtured at clubs like Brentford and Brighton
Inner London Population: 3,404,300. Outer London : 5,395,500. Greater London 8,799,800.
Brighton has 622 ,000 can also pick away at outer London talent pool .

Both have greater access to private investment and bigger commercial enterprise opportunities. we have very few big private companies if any .

Both clubs have the lure of London and the gifts overpaid footballers enjoy , we got the Bay ,Beacons and Barry Island

We are not a big club in any sense of the word , if we were someone would have worked out a business model , invested and made some dosh

      Brighton population 622,000 v Cardiff 488,000.

But we do have Dai Hunt

      City till I die

Population wise, Barry has 51k. Brentford, wait for it, has 27k.

On a pro rata basis Brentford's historical average attendance of 9,340 is staggeringly high.

Population of Brentford itself is almost meaningless.

Aye, less than half of Liverpool's, but they still hammered your boys on the weekend.

Indeed. Fat chance of that happening while Vincent Tan is the club's owner.

Incidentally, the young, British, forward-thinking line - correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm not), but weren't you saying the same thing about Neil Harris while he was here? Didn't you describe him as being one of the most talented young managers in the UK?

I was a teenager / young adult in late 70s and early 80s and there seeemed to be a lot of "activity" by the general public - miners strike, other industrial action, anti racism movements, etc along with a lot of civil unrest e.g. Race riots, football violence and comparing to what my son says a lot more "disorder" on a regular night out??

Agreed. The population, or the overwhelming majority, appear to have become thoroughly demoralised and apathetic to the point of inertia.

Interesting makeup of Brighton's team v Liverpool...
"A goalkeeper they had since he was 15, a £3m midfielder at right back, a centre back from their League One days, a teenager on loan, two young Ecuadorians, a midfielder that cost them £7m, a winger they signed from seventh-tier Lewes, a player they snapped up on a free from their opponents and an 18-year-old Irishman."

Lewes seem to provide a plethora of wingers....some better than others it seems....

Can we have loan deal for their recruitment section????
