Collins played three games. He was impressive in two of those, but average at best in the other. Losing him was undoubtedly a blow, but I think his loss is often overstated considering how little we actually saw of him.

So given the fine margin between a clean sheet and only one goal being conceded, and the fact that defensively we aren't so bad, you're not convinced that a top performer being out for the season, without having a convincing replacement isn't being overstated? In that position we brought in a Premier League loanee to compete with last season's young prospect, and are now playing out best attacking player in his place, but you think Jamilu Collins being out is overstated? A player who had rave reviews?

Imagine, for a moment, that Mendez-Laing had been injured after the Sheffield Utd game at home in 2017. He'd scored 4 in 3 (including the league cup) and looked like one of the best signings we'd made that summer, albeit that he was a free from a League 1 side that many questioned at first.

I reckon that, by new year, we'd have had many fans saying how much we would have missed his goals, particularly when we lost 4 in a row around Christmas time.

The fact is that Mendez-Laing had nearly a full season and only scored 3 more for us. I know I digress.

When you use the phrase "massive blow" to describe losing Collins I think you are very much overstating things.

And you are welcome to think that. I disagree. It's all opinions see. I never bought into NML. Like I haven't bought into Rubin Colwill. But I did get very excited at the performances of Collins. If you didn't that's ok.
