  • If we go down

Does anyone think it's for the best?

I've seen a few posts welcoming it to get rid of Tan or to regroup and start fresh but it didn't always work for bigger clubs than us.

It is for the best if we rip it up and start again.

Still owned by Tan and making the same mistakes at a lower level won't be for the best.

I don’t see any positives to going down whatsoever (apart from less queues and easier parking).

        Re: If we go down

Relegation can easily lead to a spiral downwards. Smaller crowds, less income, lower wages, poorer players, second-rate managers. And that just feeds into more of the same. It's far easier for things to get worse, than to get better. A lot of people will renew their tickets, and carry on watching regardless, but a lot of people won't.
Okay, we might find our level, strengthen the side, appoint a decent manager, and win promotion. But we might not. We haven't done any of that over the last few years, so what makes anyone think we might do it, if we were to get relegated?

Simply doing enough to survive in this division seems to be Tan's plans. We have little to spend.

What happens next season if we avoid relegation on the last day? Is Tan going to incest in us and get us climbing the table? I doubt it. Until he does, the day will come when we go down. He has to realise this.

As bad as the club has been there has never been any incest, as far as I know.

                Relegation would be a disaster.

                    Re: If we go down

I know times have changed out of sight but 40 years ago in 83 we went down to level 3 and took 20 years to get back. And we didn’t half experience some huge lows in those 20 years. I do believe getting relegated would be a disaster for the club, however bad it seems today - and it is bad.

                      Swap “if” for “when”

If we don’t I think he will hang on and keep on making the same woeful decisions like he has the last 10 yrs, it seems inevitable that we will sink at some point so why not just get on with it? New owners, decent manager with youngsters coming through you would hope we’d fly back up but I’ve been around too long to believe it’s that simple…..

                          Re: If we go down

Three months to avoid disaster. If/when we go down, it could take a decade to get promoted back to the Championship. I fear Tan would prefer us to be relegated rather than lose face and sell at a huge loss.

We could be down there for decades.
The problem is very much Tan at the minute, he's spunked millions trying to defend himself against paying up for Sala, which, ultimately, always looked an inevitable outcome.
Those millions mean he's refusing to spend more on the squad or managers.
Factor in that he's probably still paying managers that are happy to take the money instead of taking other jobs, and it's a recipe for disaster.
Along with whatever we're paying to train at the Vale, etc etc etc.....

The only way out is to invest more and he clearly isn't going to do that.
Time to get the interfering Malaysian out of the club, and his little Asian dragon off our badge.

Sadly he's put us in a world of shite that's going to be difficult for any potential new owner to clean up, or get us out of.
