  • FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 3 MIDDLESBROUGH. Match thread

    Saturday 11th February 2023, ko 3:00pm.

Easy to post a bunch of negative stats. So Let's look forward and aim for this to be a positive start of a massive week where we also play on Tuesday (Birmingham A) and Friday (Reading H).

    Match Officials:

    Referee: John Busby
    Assistant Referee: Mark Pottage
    Assistant Referee: Matthew Smith
    Fourth Official: Robert Madley

I'm not confident but I'll be there more in hope than anything else.

Doesn’t look like we’ve had Mr Busby before. He likes his yellow cards though, looking at his stats

Middlesbrough's Akpom is the Championship's top scorer.

Question: What can home fans do to help overcome that lot?

Answer: Identify which hotel they'll be at then ensure they get as little kip as possible. Get the CCS drummer outside of there ready to bash it harder than he's ever bashed it before from 12:30am sharp. If there's other fans prepared to volunteer who have access to trombones, bassoons and tubas then get them there too.

It doesn't matter if they're hopeless players; the worse racket they make the better.

An impromptu firework display would be ace as well. Some people must have a few of those leftover from New Year's Eve.

Also, what about handheld megaphones? Dai Hunt bellowing through one of those for a few hours straight would crack anyone up.

Times are desperate, lads. We need to get creative.

Perhaps our nice Mr Morris could make this message a sticky.

This is how it is going to go - if we sort out the left back position i.e. drop Simpson.

Cardiff score first very early in the game. We hang on till 45th minute, borough equalise. We score again early doors and hang on for dear life until we score again right at the end. 3:1 City.
Trust me, I got a feelin.

I couldnt help noticing that that Sori has a very impressive rear end. Just made for bouncing the ball into the net.
Before anyone corrects me, Sori is the Welsh spelling.

Right as the boss says, no more negativity.
Stay strong at the back, keeping a close watch on Agpong, solid in midfield and attack with speed and purpose.
                      Easy....
                      Win 3-0

3-2 city. McGuiness header from a corner. And one each from Sory & Robinson I'm going for a 433....

And kind of irritating. Carrick's first job as a manager - did Boro get lucky with this or was it a calculated gamble? Did their chairman/chief exec/board have some insider knowledge about the best of the next generation of managers? Difficult to not make comparisons with our passing by the door/go into a golf club and shout "is there a manager in the house?" policy, and maybe they got lucky cos he's from up that way anyway, but jeez.

Time to roll the dice and throw the sink at teams, we should just have a shoot on sight policy now, any player should have to shoot as soon as they're within 5 yards of the box.

Realise I probably sound like Vincent Tan
