What i will say is his fifth game was as you claim, we got more people into forward positions, played on the front foot throughout and he was bold with his selection and substitutions. The players took a lot from the win at Birmingham clearly, but it’s still a fact that two of the goals in the wins were from set pieces and the other one was a solo effort which caught the defence on the hop, none of the goals have been down to any change of style only moments of quality from individuals. The hope has to be though that the Reading game especially will be the catalyst for seeing the sort of things you talk about resulting in more goals.

If you look at the change of style and the revival at Birmingham when Lamouchi started the big changes and the players started to understand and play the way he wanted we had twice as many shots and four times as many on target.

    12 to 6
    4 to 1
Two late goals earn Sabri Lamouchi's first victory as boss as Cardiff City end a run of 14 games without a win at St Andrew's.

Then we progressed massively with a bit more training and belief and confidence earned at the previous game for Reading. The stats were impressive and we should have scored more and were a bit unlucky with hitting the bar twice.
we had 63 % possession mostly in their half, four times as many shots almost, with five on target and two hitting the crossbar to none on target for them.

    19 to 5
5 to nil and hit the bar twice.
Cardiff City's mini-revival under new boss Sabri Lamouchi continues with a stoppage-time win over Reading in the Championship.

Now have a look at the stats prior, fewer attempts at goal and we certainly weren't doubling and quadrupling oponents attempts on goal, despite still defending quite well.

Of course, we are confident now, the Manager has given them a way to play which means they are currently under no pressure and are almost always playing in the oppositions half and box.

The system, team selection, and style of play on the front foot led to the confidence, I can't wait to see what happens when we play Norwich, they will have obviously had time to look at what we have been doing and will be working on a way to stop us doing it, but can they?

Good points you made though and I actually agree with most of what you say, I slightly disagree about the formation and style not being the important factor.

If we did then it highlights just how daft xG is.

I can't buy into all that personally, it's all a load of bollocks.
There are so many variables, sheer luck being just one of many.
It's like some old granny with a crystal ball trying to tell you what she thinks might happen in your life, based on the little info she's gleaned from you.

The bottom line here, as we all know, is the more chances you create, the more likely you are to score.
Hopefully, we've turned a corner in that regard.

          Romaine Sawyers'

"Earlier on in my career I would have struggled (with the style), but now I know what the gaffer is expecting from us," the player said. "It's about minimising risks, getting up the pitch, picking up on second balls and playing from there.

We can only play to our strengths, forcing players to play differently will end in disaster.

All fans want is to win .. whatever it takes ,that has always been the way until the new era of robotic passing footy ,played by the few who can afford the best , not by the many .

I played for years and the key for me was a good second ball win performances, it usually won or saved games .

I'm more optimistic this week than last, but we're still to see any sustained period of goals scored which is still the obvious concern.
Hopefully that changes in the weeks to come, but it's still the thing I'm most wary of at the minute.
Same here. The 4 goals we've scored under Lamouchi have been 1 defensive blunder, 2 from outside the box and one good run and finish.

Birmingham fans seem resigned to getting a minimum six points deduction for shenanigans there.

Birmingham City face EFL charge after takeover bid investigation - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/64711621

This round of games sees the bottom five play away. Mad Mick's Blackpool must be fave to finish bottom. He won his first game in eons at home to Stoke last Saturday when their one attempt on target resulted in a jammy deflected goal. Stoke battered them throughout but couldn't score.

Three days later saw them lose at Blackburn when they failed to have a single attempt on target. It's an achievement of sorts to be so inept.

If the Blackpool fans felt anything like I did when Mick was appointed here, they'll already be gutted and expecting the drop.

The funniest thing about Mick is that he's achieved literally, the sum of f*ck all in managerial roles, yet somehow, somewhat shockingly, he still gets decent jobs.

I literally joked with a close mate about how we'd probably appoint Mick.
                And then we did.
I nearly choked on my beer.
It wasn't as funny post-joke, that's for sure.
