No confusion, you classed every pensioner the same making out they could afford doing without the heating allowance. This shirker policy seems to have hit a nerve with you.

I am afraid there is
My views are that apart from his recent good work on Ukraine and jailing all those racist rioters starmer his leadership , his government and his policies has been dreadful
In fact there's a few threads about that including my views if you want to check
Take a look
You are confusing me with someone else

I certainly agree with that

The general argument against it is that it costs a lot to administer means testing. Also, the whole system becomes flakier if it relies on people putting money in but then not being able to benefit from it.
Some means testing is right, but some should also be universal. Otherwise, why not ask to see people's bank accounts before they go on the operating table?
The wealthy should pay more in tax, but they have a right to benefit from that collective funding in some cases too.

If benefits should be means tested then so should everything else
The government shouldn't be throwing out winter fuel payments to some couple living on a country manor with a servant whilst some are freezing with no money for the meter
It should have been tackled years ago and Labour handled it appallingly and deserve the abuse they got
A huge financial ongoing threat is the triple lock pension which is the grim reaper and the biggest drain by far
Unless that's dealt with it's going to crucify this country far quicker than the spiralling benefits Bill
But

Unless I'm mistaken then you are essentially arguing for the end of universal healthcare and the NHS as we know it?

You don't pay into a state pension. That's not how it works. It is a benefit, that's how it's always been. It's not the "socialists" who have used benefits as a slander for the last God knows how many years, and it isn't socialists who've brought the country to its knees.

Surely we pay into it, through taxation and national insurance etc?
That's how it is supposed to work. You pay in when you can. You get the benefit when you need it. The issues arise when there is a perception people get something for nothing esp when others are struggling etc.
Either way I don't see how the state pension isn't a benefit that we all pay into?

Absolutely true, it's a state sponsored Ponzi scheme affording the illusion of it being an investment.

It absolutely has to happen, logistically and financially it's the only measure that will preserve the main aims of the NHS. The World has moved on since 1948.

People just won't pay for it. The whole service as we know it would collapse in that scenario

I'm not so sure about that. People will have to pay their taxes come what may. Some people will just have to suck it up.

Mate they wont pay their taxes to the have to pay for healthcare only for others to get it for free on their behalf, esp if those people haven't been in the country long.
Policies like that would be a recipe for a very radical party to come in, or civil discord or both

If you were in a serious car crash , if you were robbed by a Gunman, if you saw your loved ones die then being mentally strong doesn't come into it you idiot
And if you then needed help and support I sincerely hope you would be on a very long waiting list like everyone else
You do realise that there were World wars and people saw horrendous things, got to the end of the WAR, and cracked on and rebuilt the Country???
Some people are mentally strong and some are not otherwise the NHS couldn't cope because everyone would be in there at once saying they are stressed or anxious asking for help.
More people are suffering from taking too much dope than being in the army in Iraq.
