I'm not sure Attlee was a socialist, but he was at least a social democrat with energy, vision and determination. The post war Labour government seized the moment to transform the economic and social order and put people, respect and decency before imperialism and profiteering. It is a different world today and in some ways more difficult to bring about generational change in one country (and harder to build like Attlee than dismantle like Thatcher) but Corbyn's Labour is at least starting to dictate a lot of the political debate.

Corbyn is another traditional social democrat. Always has been - despite some of the Mail-lite rubbish posted in this thread - but that's probably what is needed just now.

The tricky bit these days is trying not to be sensationalist since it is all we hear normally. The Tories all want to kill poor people and anyone who votes for Corbyn wants to overthrow capitalism. It is what people do when they want to shut down debate.

You forgot to say the Tories want to kill ill people as well. My mother and father have just had a visit from a woman from CAPITA. My father has had 4 major operations for throat cancer, almost died on the operating table. Was fed through a tube via his stomach for several years. Can now eat thank goodness but lives mainly on angel bloody delight. Has had a heart attack, an abdominal aortic aneurysm and has COPD.

They have just been on the telephone to me in floods of tears. The woman was rude, wouldn’t let them speak and answer questions fully, she was abrupt and nasty to them.

I would add before any of the usual suspects on here say it, my father has worked all his life from the age of 16 he is not a scrounger, never has been and never will be.

This Tory government are an absolute bloody disgrace and if I could get my hands on any of them and or that bloody woman, I swear I would lose it.

RANT OVER and CAPITA hasnt heard the end of it.

Capitalism in the form it is in in this country at the moment absolutely stinks.

Firstly, I have not said demand will always be the same. What I said was that whatever factors affect demand will be present if the sale happens or otherwise. For example, the population increase is not linked to RTB - it is independent of it and it would be foolish to suggest it is.

Whatever factors that drives demand you wish to come up with will be independent of RTB
