He looks absolutely awful.
However would be interesting to see him say with likes of colwill and tanner and al ghazi and robbo just behind.
Of course maybe we only look good because kanga goes off but the only potential consideration is even haaland up front in that first half yesterday would have looked awful also so it wouldnt have been easy for him.
Definitely not match fit. Only touched the ball twice in the first 25 minutes of the game yesterday (that might have a lot to do with the s-l-o-w way we got the ball forward though). Been very disappointed with him so far.
I'd prefer to start with Robinson and bring Kanga on at 70 minutes at the moment, until he actually is match fit. Also for what I have seen so far, he isn't going to be our 15 goals a season striker. Can only hope Bulut brings a premier league striker in on loan. Hang on...what's that flying past my window...
We all know that YouTube videos can be deceptive, but he really doesn't look like the same player.
Difficult to find positives about his game. Jogs/walks around when not in possession, doesn't make himself available, and when he does receive the ball there's a lack of urgency about his play.
Maybe he actually isnt the same player and we have signed the wrong person?
Wouldnt even be the strangest thing to happen in the soap opera/shit show that is cardiff city in recent years so until i see differently ill go with that theory. We signed the wrong player. :hehe: aw well will make a good netflix documentary anyway.
Also the match fitness argument is nonsense. We arent talking about someone running out of steam on 75 mins now are we?
He looks just as bad at the start of games.
Whatever is going on with him has nothing to do with fitness.
He better shape up pretty sharp because the crowd won’t put up with that level of effort and will soon get on his back. Rightly so, too. It was a disgrace he lasted so long on the pitch yesterday.
People can say he was isolated first half but he didnt fecking move!!!
Robinson main striker
The rest can wait their turn
He was terrible yesterday and I've seen nothing from him to suggest he's anywhere near the standard.
This Haaland would have struggled is just bollox. OK we were garbage and the the service was poor but Earnie was right in the studio as a striker you also have to try and create something yourself. He just jogged about doing sweet FA.
He was also on when we stepped up in the 2nd half. Was still unlively. He can't have been that knackered as he'd done feck all.
He looks awful and should be nowhere near the squad Saturday.
Do we think Reindorf would have given Cabango and Darling such an easy time jogging about literally doing nothing.?
TLG you asked the question. What are your thoughts?
I’d have him start and play in as much of the cup game as possible on Wednesday. If there is no improvement, I’d drop him for Saturday.
He’s looked lethargic and pretty poor so far, but I do think the lack of a pre-season is likely to be a factor, so I’m not jumping to any firm conclusions just yet.
I did say when he signed that I believed he could be anything based on his career so far. As I’ve said at the top of the thread, the thing that has surprised me is how immobile he’s looking. He appears a fair bit bulkier and slower than I’d imagined.
Wonder if we would have signed him if we hadn't played Hertha in a pre season game?
I'm sure Camarasa wouldn't have signed for us if it were not for that friendly we had against Betis.
Hertha reportedly paid £5m euros for him from Young Boys. He flopped playing for Hertha in B1, but then did relatively well on loan in Belgium - to the extent that Hertha thought they could recoup their money with a sale to Gent in the Belgian league. That deal was on-off over the summer apparently. Maybe the player himself thought he was going to end up back in Belgium?
He does look rusty and unfit to me. He should start on Wednesday and again on Saturday. I think Robbo and Tanner benefited from the game being more open when they came on and the space they enjoyed wasn't there at the start of the game.
He makes Sory Kaba look like a world class striker. We look better with a late arriving striker (false 9 if that’s what it is) attack with pace at the defence, not give the centre halves what they want.
I think as a club we're stuck in the dark-age when it comes to strikers. Why do we always look to recruit a 'target man' that can hold the ball up (slowing play down)?
These type of players generally have little movement or technique about them (there are rare exceptions, of course).
Splott Parker made me laugh when he said how much better we looked when 'Frank Bruno and Audley Harrison' went off. :hehe:
No prizes for guessing who he meant, and the parallels he draws are correct.
As you said, he's had no pre-season. With that in mind, I can't see him taking part in three games during the next 6 days.
However, he needs to start against Southampton. If he stinks the place out in the cup game he shouldn't make the match-day squad for Saturday.
On the other hand, if he can redeem himself in the cup game, he should be on the bench Saturday, with a view to playing him for the last 15 minutes.
Robinson has earned the right to start Saturday (taking into account his pre-season as well)
Based on what I've seen of him so far, I'm not convinced he can turn the corner.
I feel some sympathy for players who are are not match fit. through no fault of their own, who are played out of position (not their fault), who are in a team playing a style that doesn’t suit them (not their fault) or who lack a bit of confidence because of a recent dip in form/luck (happens to all strikers).
I can’t stand to see players picking up wages and getting picked every week if I see them putting in much less effort than those around them.
I can’t quite decide on Kanga yet.
Reindorf has shown in the one match I’ve seen that he deserves consideration for the next league matchday squad.
The reason why big target men are favoured still is that in many cases they work
What we need to do is to get the ones we have to play like one
Looks absolutely useless, I wonder how we get sold on half these players at times
Kanga is exactly the type of player we do not need. He looks unfit and lacks mobility and energy. While I have some sympathy for him n the sense that he gets very little support he doesn't hold the ball up and neither does he bring others into play. Perhaps, given time, his fitness will improve and hopefully will the other aspects of his game. On the other hand Daland looks a real find.
Too early to say.
Not easy jumping from the leagues these lads come from to the Championship which is a very challenging league, with less time on the ball , physical ,demanding, and sadly cut throat if you fail in the early part of your career especially up front , defence not so ..
CF is an awful position in which to quickly adapt and deliver the goals
Every football player you ever speak to will tell you there’s a difference between being fit and being match fit. As someone who was never any good at football I can’t vouch for the validity of that suggestion, but pretty much every manager, coach and player says it’s the case.
I’ve made up my mind, he’s useless. Even if he’s not match fit he should show for the ball and try and get involved . He hasn’t contributed anything in the time he’s been on the pitch in any of the games. Even the tap in against Burnley he was offside
Can we send him back?
73 minutes v Middlesbrough
Saturday’s performance could be classified as Kanga’s least effective yet, and that’s a pretty low bar.
I suppose he might hit form at some point, stranger things have happened. After all, even the woeful Diedhiou managed to score a couple of goals last season. But I suspect a change of formation would be necessary for Kanga to improve, and that’s not going happen while Bulut is in charge.
I would agree if the debate was why kanga looks so good only for 20 mins. Or why he keeps getting subbed off after an hour despite being our best threat.
I could get the argument he needs match fitness in order to play 90 plus minutes and yes of course ex players say that.
However here we are talking about someone who looks generally out of shape and can't last 30 seconds.
Also it will take him several years to get to match fitness at this rate as he puts so little effort in and moves so little he'd probably get fitter quicker just training or going to a gym.
Like every loan striker that plays in the Bulut Ball system, he looks very isolated. I said before I think Haaland would struggle under Bulut.
Has any striker who’s played under Bulut’s management received praise from the fan base? I’m not saying the likes of Etete, Diedhiou, Ugbo and Kanga are world beaters, but three of them have been better players elsewhere than they looked at Cardiff. Maybe Diedhiou can be put down to age, but Ugbo looked a lot better at a side struggling near the bottom of the Championship than he did here and although the early evidence with Kanga doesn’t look good, his figures last season show he’s better than he’s looked for us so far.
Unless or until we have a striker who can score at an acceptable rate under Bulut’s management, I’m not going to dismiss the notion that he is the problem - would Kiefer Moore have been able to maintain his 20/21 scoring rate if he’d have come here in January? No one can say for sure, but my admiration for Moore would have been increased if he had managed to do so under this manager.
I’m sorry TOBW but Bulutball is not an excuse for a lack of effort. Etete may not be good technically but even he puts Kanga to shame.
Of course it could be he has been asked not to press, stick to position etc but it just seems he’s a very lazy player in a very long list of **** centre forwards we’ve had in the last 25 years
Reindorf looks much better and do you really think we score v Swansea if Kanga is on and not Robinson.
Earnie summed it up. Sometimes as a striker you have to create something yourself.
He just looks useless. He could yet prove everyone wrong but it really doesn't look good and Reindorf should be replacing him.
