I can’t stand to see players picking up wages and getting picked every week if I see them putting in much less effort than those around them.

I can’t quite decide on Kanga yet.

Reindorf has shown in the one match I’ve seen that he deserves consideration for the next league matchday squad.
You could see Reindorf pressing from the first whistle to the last.

Reindorf was a breath of fresh air. Meite was gasping after 15 minutes which is worrying but he is a tryer. Kanga looks like he couldn’t care less.

The reason why big target men are favoured still is that in many cases they work

What we need to do is to get the ones we have to play like one

Looks absolutely useless, I wonder how we get sold on half these players at times

Kanga is exactly the type of player we do not need. He looks unfit and lacks mobility and energy. While I have some sympathy for him n the sense that he gets very little support he doesn't hold the ball up and neither does he bring others into play. Perhaps, given time, his fitness will improve and hopefully will the other aspects of his game. On the other hand Daland looks a real find.

    Too early to say.

Not easy jumping from the leagues these lads come from to the Championship which is a very challenging league, with less time on the ball , physical ,demanding, and sadly cut throat if you fail in the early part of your career especially up front , defence not so ..

CF is an awful position in which to quickly adapt and deliver the goals

What is it about professional footballers...
They're out of contract but don't keep the necessary high fitness levels required?
Surely a prerequisite for any athlete is to keep fit, whether in or out of contract?

Every football player you ever speak to will tell you there’s a difference between being fit and being match fit. As someone who was never any good at football I can’t vouch for the validity of that suggestion, but pretty much every manager, coach and player says it’s the case.

I’ve made up my mind, he’s useless. Even if he’s not match fit he should show for the ball and try and get involved . He hasn’t contributed anything in the time he’s been on the pitch in any of the games. Even the tap in against Burnley he was offside

    Can we send him back?

Saturday’s performance could be classified as Kanga’s least effective yet, and that’s a pretty low bar.

I suppose he might hit form at some point, stranger things have happened. After all, even the woeful Diedhiou managed to score a couple of goals last season. But I suspect a change of formation would be necessary for Kanga to improve, and that’s not going happen while Bulut is in charge.

I would agree if the debate was why kanga looks so good only for 20 mins. Or why he keeps getting subbed off after an hour despite being our best threat.

I could get the argument he needs match fitness in order to play 90 plus minutes and yes of course ex players say that.

However here we are talking about someone who looks generally out of shape and can't last 30 seconds.

Also it will take him several years to get to match fitness at this rate as he puts so little effort in and moves so little he'd probably get fitter quicker just training or going to a gym.

Like every loan striker that plays in the Bulut Ball system, he looks very isolated. I said before I think Haaland would struggle under Bulut.

Has any striker who’s played under Bulut’s management received praise from the fan base? I’m not saying the likes of Etete, Diedhiou, Ugbo and Kanga are world beaters, but three of them have been better players elsewhere than they looked at Cardiff. Maybe Diedhiou can be put down to age, but Ugbo looked a lot better at a side struggling near the bottom of the Championship than he did here and although the early evidence with Kanga doesn’t look good, his figures last season show he’s better than he’s looked for us so far.

Unless or until we have a striker who can score at an acceptable rate under Bulut’s management, I’m not going to dismiss the notion that he is the problem - would Kiefer Moore have been able to maintain his 20/21 scoring rate if he’d have come here in January? No one can say for sure, but my admiration for Moore would have been increased if he had managed to do so under this manager.

I’m sorry TOBW but Bulutball is not an excuse for a lack of effort. Etete may not be good technically but even he puts Kanga to shame.

Of course it could be he has been asked not to press, stick to position etc but it just seems he’s a very lazy player in a very long list of **** centre forwards we’ve had in the last 25 years

Reindorf looks much better and do you really think we score v Swansea if Kanga is on and not Robinson.

Earnie summed it up. Sometimes as a striker you have to create something yourself.

He just looks useless. He could yet prove everyone wrong but it really doesn't look good and Reindorf should be replacing him.

Agree, he's not worked hard enough when the teams has been struggling, Reidorf will give us 100%, he surely has to start, or Robinson, he may come good after some time out.

There's a big difference between playing striker for City in a Cup match and a league game under this manager, I'm sure Reindorf would have struggled on Saturday in that starting line up.

Kanga didn't look too impressive with his finishing when he had a a quarter chance in the second half on Saturday, but I'm not going to say he wouldn't have scored at Swansea if he'd had Robinson 's chance because he's barely had a goal attempt since he joined us, none of our forwards have in a league game as far as I can remember apart from Meite at Burnley and Robinson at Swansea.

For what it's worth, I'd have Robinson as our centre forward at the moment, but, as I've said before, playing as the striker in an Erol Bulut team in a league game is a thankless task.

I’ll repeat what I said about the first half v Southampton. Colwill and Reindorf looked just as lethargic when (not) pressing as Bulut’s first half plan is to do naff all. We are talking about 2 players here who we feel would be a huge change from Kanga and it wasn’t, it was exactly the same.

He's no Iwan Redan or Michael Boulding

    Re: Wilfried Kanga

There's a pattern with our striker signings.

-City sign striker I've never heard of
    -I Google him
    -Career stats:
    Club 1 - Apps 30 Goals 3
    Club 2 - Apps 87 Goals 12
Club 3 - (Loan to equivalent of Championship somewhere) Apps 38 Goals 6
    Club 4 - Cardiff City
-He looks shite and doesn't score and we're all surprised and disappointed

I'm not entirely surprised that Kanga's been poor so far - I said from day one that he could be absolutely anything based on the erratic nature of his career to date. But I'm definitely disappointed by his lack of movement and mobility. I didn't expect him to be anywhere near as static.

The bloke is 26 years old. There is no excuse for his lack of effort.

Thing is, if McCarthy or Harris had inherited any combination of these strikers they would have set the team up to get crosses into the box to them. Bulut plays them as if they're Son or Salah..

I always thought (rightly or wrongly) that match fitness was more about regaining the touch, anticipation, and awareness that you lose from not taking part in games.
However, surely stamina shouldn't be an issue? Kanga looks completely unfit (as does Meite to a lesser degree).

    Re: Wilfried Kanga

There is so little for our LONE (I said loan before) striker to feed on, the almost total lack of crosses into the box due to Bulut being obsessed with inverted wingers, (I can't recall Willock getting a cross into the box) the midfield is so deep they leave the striker isolated and when the rare cross does come in, there is rarely more than one player in the box to receive it. I'm not saying Kanga is a good striker, but he's feeding off scraps, it's been the same for Reindorf, the difference being he works his socks off to close down, which is to be applauded.
