apparently it has been confirmed that more than 30 russian tanks have been destroyed so far, but I think I read that the Russians have something like 1200 or so in the region.
Certainly is well written. No doubt he won’t be turning up very soon.
There is so much information flying around at the moment. I have seen figures far higher than 30.
However even if we take that as right, 30 tanks over 5 days means 180 in a month!
At that rate they will have no tanks left in the region.
Unfortunately they stiil have about 7,000 more to bring in, although I am not sure how many of those are front line battle tanks
Of course there was no EU Army planned. That’s my point. We were lied to in order to split the EU. Misinformation spread by Russian propaganda. Putin has been planning this for years. Whilst we’ve been arguing amongst ourselves in Europe, he saw it as a window of opportunity.
I can't see that making a difference personally. Germany especially, and the eu as a whole have been responsible for p*ssing putin off politically while sending him billions a month for gas. I don't understand how a stronger eu would have helped . However much you hate Britain and the US, they are the ones who have dragged and cajoled European countries into action.
There is one thing that has been playing on my mind the last couple of days regarding brexit mind. When I think back to the scum like farage and some French mp's who were demanding navies got involved with fishing disputes. We're so lucky to live in a part of the world where disputes are dealt with politically. To think that filth on both sides were almost falling over themselves to turn it into a military confrontation is beyond reproach.
Is this the first time that a conflict 'near' to home has been played out in soundbites, internet and social media ? I'd encourage folk to read some good journalism [even the Guardian] on the big picture here. It's not just about Ukraine.
Ukraine’s ambassador to the US claims Russia has used a vacuum bomb in the country today

Putin will win this war if it lasts 72 hours more. The real question is whether he will be undermined from Russia in that time, and then what. Because we are all watching a bellend on a spiral of self destruct. Funny in Caroline st on a Saturday, but Less so when the bellend in question has a finger on the nuclear button.
Russia alone can fix this. But they wont.
So in the next week we need a targeted strike to take out a lunatic. And hope the subs realise the game is up
General Sir Richard Barrons on Newsnight reckons that if in the next couple of days, Russia starts using its heavy weapons against civilians and thus causing casualties in the hundreds or even thousands, by Thursday or Friday public opinion may force the west to think of a No Fly zone or even an attempt to destroy Russia's heavy weapons!!
They need planes. If we can provide ammunition a few planes, wouldn't go amiss. They've got the pilots.

fascinating if slightly terrifying view on Putin and the war.
Tom Tugendhat has suggested the setting up of an international fund made from ceased Russian money and returned to the Russian public if Putin and his mob are removed, In his words "from whom it had been stolen in the first place
Cracking idea.
Can't remember where I heard it today but apparently the EU are going to provide them witn Russian planes which the Ukraine pilots are trained to fly.
The prblem I can see with planes is that if the Russians make really serious efforts, Ukraine could end up with no airfields to fly tehm from
With this huge 40 mile convoy of tanks, artillery and armoured trucks approaching Kiev from the north I fear that this is it. Already civilian targets are being destroyed in the second city Kharkiv, so it's becoming no holds barred now. I think Putin has two options depending on his degree of impatience to take over Ukraine - if in a hurry, use every weapon he has to pulverise Kiev so that the president Zelensky has no option but to surrender to prevent a massacre, or alternatively if he is not in a rush, lay siege to the city and starve the population into submission. There are no words to describe Putin other than evil personified.
