Newcastle , Nottingham both far bigger urban populations than Cardiff
If you Google ‘Population of Cardiff Metropolitan Area’ it’s 1,097,000, the Newcastle equivalent is 823,000, the Nottingham equivalent is 807,000 but if you include Derby, why would you though?, it’s 1,610,00. But that could be reversed and say it’s the Derby Metropolitan area that’s 1,610,000
