We should have been defending at least another 20 runs, but even with what we were defend we had done enough to win the game. To happen in 1 game fair enough. But we've now blown out and out winning chances against Glos and Essex, to go with the really strong positions that we blew against Surrey and Somerset.

Top 4 starting to pull away a bit now aswell, so looking like end of sports for qualifying
You can forget about that team qualifying, there’s a simple explanation for their defeat tonight, it’s the same one that explains the Surrey and Essex losses - they bottled it.

100%. Always seems like a strong accusation to make, but when the wheels come off with the basics to this extent game after game it starts looking like the only explanation. I really want Carlson to succeed , he seems a nice bloke and I think he's got a good cricket brain, but I think you've got to look at the captain when this level of bottling is happening (especially when he's one of the ones dropping the sitters).

It was fantastic, one of the best I've seen. Shows that real desire to impact the game aswell. He seems to have that attitude that 'if I don't score runs I'm still going to do something to win you the game'. wether that's bowling a good spell or taking a stunner in the field. Real winning mentality that a lot of the others just don't seem to have

Yep and it is a recurring theme. Our record in T20 over the years is abysmal.

I'm old enough to have seen Glammy win the County Championship twice, the Sunday league as was and there's no comparison to the team in those days and the squad now. The club doesn't have the resources to have too many quality players and it shows.

The T20 performances have been woeful and we've gone down dramatically over the last 10 years.

Certainly tonight's failure was sloppy and disappointing.

    Re: GLAMMY

VdG' spell and Marnus' catch were brilliant. In fact, I would put Marnus' catch in the top 10 I've seen live.

But then amateur hour kicked in, big time. Again.

Take off the free tickets given to schools, and tonight's crowd was terrible. Probably as many people watching on youtube as there were in the ground.

Feel like a continued downward spiral. Marnus won't want to play here next year, and hard to see where the next talent is coming from.

    (All good otherwise)

Back on the horse for a game at the Oval tomorrow. I'm glad it's not my job to lift the players after tonight.

Pretty sad really. We all know we're not one of the top teams but everyone's doing all they can to make it work. As Ger said, the club gave loads of free tickets to local schools tonight, they were promoting free tickets for u-17s (half price for adults) for Sunday's Championship game too. The players gave everything, a number of them collapsed to the ground after the final ball. Even the stewards seem friendly and helpful to me. But how can you legislate for players dropping chance after chance and throwing games away like tonight?

My missus works in a school where free tickets were being given out. Hopefully the kids that went had a good time and will want to go again and even take up the game, despite the result. I'm not sure if the players ever make visits to local schools but if they do then maybe they could ask the kids how to catch a ball.

If I was the coach I don't think I'd be expecting to have to say anything to lift most of them. Maybe a little word with a couple along the lines of ' keep your heads up and don't let the rest of the drag you down'. But you'd have to hope the players come out fighting after letting people down like that.

Half way point of the season now, we've played well enough on the whole that we should be looking down from a very healthy position. But we've not done the basics and they've cost us. Time for the players to have a proper go at the second half. Lose a match because you're not good enough , fine. But can't keep losing matches because we don't catch and we switch off when we think we've won, that's completely unacceptable.

    Re: GLAMMY

I was out last night and had the wickets notifications coming through on the phone, couldnt believe it when the result came through. Dear me.

Free tickets for the Oval later. Lovely day in London atm which Im sure Glamorgan will do their best to spoil come the evening 😂. Used to be a bit of a happy hunting ground for us in the t20 for a stretch but going to be a tall order tonight one feels.

    Re: GLAMMY

Last night was gutting. Everything has been said above. But we do have the chance to go again tonight. On paper oval, along with Taunton, are the toughest games but we’ve often done well. Get some bloody positivity in them somehow, and grab a win. Sam northeast is a quality cricketer. No debate. But 40 off 40 simply ain’t good enough even at Cardiff. Drop him tonight, get billy in - always liked his positive attitude, and open with Marnus. We have had some excellent individual performances - crane, vdG and some batters - now let’s stick it together. Come on glammy!!

    Re: GLAMMY

I’d blame Northeast for his dropped catch, but not for his innings. That was not a good wicket and I’d say Glamorgan would not have got what should have been a winning score without his innings. Glamorgan were winning that game for the first sixteen overs of the Gloucestershire innings and they lost because Douthwaite, McIlroy and Gorvin bowled like drains in their final overs (to be fair, the last named was very good until then) and Carlson, McIlroy and Northeast dropped easy catches by the standards of the professional game - you can rave about Labuschagne’s catch, but Glamorgan’s general standard of catching in the last few weeks has been appalling, as bad as I can remember from a Glamorgan team.

Games as good as gone. But that Surrey sideline reporter certainly cheered me up. She may aswell not have been wearing a top. Poor old Kumar didn't know where to look

I take the one change from last night’s shambles - new boy Sole for Van Der Gugten is down to injury, an absolutely bonkers decision if it isn’t.

Being rested according to the glam website. Along with byrom and podmore, although they seem to have been resting for a while !!

So they’ve given up on qualifying then, I suppose that’s realistic.

Every part of their game is a shambles. There are 2 types of results at the moment, losses we should have won and absolute thumping embarrassments.

    Re: GLAMMY

Small grumble about how slow we scored . I'd have rather seen us shot out for 60 trying to attack than crawling to just over 100. But on the whole I find that game a lot easier to take than the rest of our defeats.
Bad performance , we lost, that happens.
