I guess people aren't sure what to expect. Chambers' career has clearly gone backwards during the last few seasons and it's not clear why.
He made nine Premier League starts for Villa in 2021/22, but only two in 2022/23 and just one in 2023/24 - a 5-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on the final day of the season (he was subbed on 68 minutes with the score at 4-0).
Chambers is obviously a decent player by Championship standards, but he hasn't played much football at all in recent years. City are clearly pushing the boat out in terms of wages this summer, so it will be interesting to see where he figures in Bulut's plans. Chambers won't be coming here to sit on the bench, so does he replace McGuinness at centre-half or Ng at right-back?
