I agree, I like the romantic notion of a young team storming through league 1 but Im sure that team would be bullied off the ball! Joel Colwill has struggled in league 1 since moving from league 2, dont think a midfield of both brothers would work
If Joe Ralls can stay fit he needs to be in our midfield. We need an experienced centre half too though having spent so much money on Daland I guess were going to have to persevere with him
If we're going to have an experienced head in midfield next year could we have one who'll play most of the season? That'll rule out our two stalwarts.
Also, there's Eli King to come back so at least we'll have some League 1 experience there.
King and Joel Colwill to play a big part in our midfield next year for me, plus assuming we hang onto Robertson and get a real manager he's looked very good there before for half a season. Will anyone want Chambers, if not there's your experienced head and he should be a level above with the step down.
Ruben debate has been done to death, I'm a huge fan but wonder if he just hasn't got the pace or fitness to succeed in the modern game. I think he'd look better in a less physical league but would anyone want him, maybe a second tier team in France or Spain would fit.
I think an experienced CB would be by far the highest on my shopping list, assuming we could keep hold of Salech and maybe Simic finds his level. Especially with the step up in physicality going into the season with the jokers we have there we'd get murdered.
If Colwill (R) isn't going to be a number 10 then perhaps League 1 is where he can learn to be an 8 or 6.
Next season we need an actual manager. Someone who makes players better. It is a bold strategy, only employed by about 80 of the 92 professional clubs but it might work.
I've long thought we'd be better off with a coach rather than a tactician (not that we've had that either) because we've got some talent that hasn't been developed. I'm not sure that's the case now, as we need to bounce back, and quickly.
Whatever division we are in we need a much stronger spine of the team.
Physically stronger cb, two ideally, someone in midfield who can actually tackle and break up play. Hopefully we can keep hold of Salech.
A captain that will likely be fit to play most matches.
The boring basics of any decent team.
In Leeds' third goal against us (he pretty quickly gets subbed after), he's in a great position in the back 5, and they're in a line. He completely stops, and is 5 yards out of position (at least) and James scores exactly where Daland should be clearing the ball. This is what bugs me about its all Riza's fault. They're set up correctly and they make stupid decisions.
He also got rag dolled by Macaulay Langstaff who is 5'10 with 1 Champ goal.
Having seen the replay a few times, does anyone still think Horvath "had no chance"? I didn't yesterday, and I certainly don't today. It was at a good height, not that far to his left, and from 35 yards out. He didn't even get his fingers to it. As the ball passed him, he still had his feet on the ground. ,
