The lightweight nature of our 1st team squad which you referred to - both physically and mentally, is going to hinder any faint hopes of a quick return to the Championship. The 3 promoted clubs, Portsmouth, Oxford, Derby are all physically stronger, quicker, and more resilient than our lot, and all three have actually acclimatised to Championship football as the season entered its last couple of months. Any thoughts that League 1 might be an easier gig are in my opinion, misplaced.

You’re right to mention the mentality of the squad, I’d rate getting it right as more important than any attempt to add to our physicality - I say that mind and then I remember Norwich’s fourth goal!

A huge dose of realism is needed, League 1 is full of gnarled hard nosed experienced lower league battlers. Not something many of our fancy dans may relish playing on a wet Tuesday night in Bradford or Bolton.

I think our "youngsters" well the players we produce ourselves are too soft. I couldn't care less what results they get at under 18.

Davies Ashford colwill all of them really. They all kind of look ok in their own ways but they look like kids even in their 20s not men.

I remember ledley gunter Collins Jerome coming in as teenagers, even ralls actually, and they all seemed to have an extra fight in them we haven't seen for a long long time.

Of course the seniors are awful also and it's not the youngsters fault but for me the players we have produced do not add what we need.

Cardiff City need one key thing that has been lacking for years: stability.

We cannot afford to experiment with eager, but completely inexperienced managers.

We cannot send the kids out there without some experienced heads alongside them.

The right blend could make this an exciting reboot for Cardiff City. The wrong one could see that downward spiral continue.

Our so-called 'press' was virtually non-existent throughout the season. Compared with how quickly the opposition would close us down the minute we got the ball.

TOBW answered his own question re colwill. He said he was left scratching his head how colwill remained a bit part player in the key games after watching how he performed yesterday.

Well it's quite simple- yesterday he had all the time and space in the world to do what he wanted. In the key games he doesn't and if he doesn't have huge amounts of time and space then he is about as ineffective a player as you can get.

That's not to say he might not be OK in league 1 though! Could well have a few man of the match performances next season.

The very fact that there's even a modest amount of speculation that Ramsey could carry on playing for us next season or (God forbid) that he might be manager, shows how far the stature of our club has fallen.

Firstly, thank you for your reports again this season Bob. It's always good to read your opinions on the games alongside the factual elements. I actually enjoyed the second half after worrying we would get stuffed after the sending off. I thought the change of shape by Ramsey was a positive and displayed what a decent coach can do when the situation changes drastically during a game. Bagan and Lawlor did well preventing Norwich's attacks on the ground, their 4th came from experience and strength of the centre half. Salech deserved his goals, especially after his hard work to win the penalty. If we'd had him rather than Kanga to start the season, we may just have survived. If we can add some strength and experience to the quality of the young players coming through, I'm hopeful of a more positive season in 25/26.

Common theme when Colwill looks good is space and time. Stoke, Villa, Southampton, Plymouth at Home, Norwich, in four of those games the opposition were around 60% interested, and the games were incredibly open. There's not much to understand with this one. He'll be a league 1 player next season, and so will most of the other players, the majority of them are on the slide as players, The last 2 years is enough evidence to show that. These players owe us, and I can't understand why we're still debating their ability, haven't we seen enough? League 1, over to them to turn it around.

Since Colwill made his debut 4 years ago he's played under 8 managers (if you include interims), with different philosophies and styles but a similar lack of success. He's been played out of position, left on the bench and publicly criticised by managers and supporters. His injury niggles for a couple of seasons haven't helped either.
There's no evidence of decent coaching or player development at the club outside of the academy. Players who look good elsewhere are often poor when they come to us, and players who've looked mediocre at best with us have done better elsewhere.
We've seen glimpses of his ability but he's not progressed to become the player he should have done by now.
In other words, in hindsight I think he'd have been much better off leaving the club when he left the academy. I reckon he needs a fresh start and that we'd see him start to develop into the player many of us think he could be at another club. Now could be the time to go, as League One football is going to suit him even less.
