"It was a very satisfying workout from our point of view. It puts all the players in an equal position to start the training week with the view to giving everyone the chance to play against Peterborough United. It’s a very exciting week for us.
"I would always be slightly concerned if the pre-season gave us no difficult situations. Today was a game against a very good opponent, who were really well organised, and as you saw throughout the game, gave us problems that we had to deal with. Is it just me? Each post-match reaction so far has sounded to me like he’s reading a marketing brochure.
Really over-stating the positives, to the point where I switch off.
That said, let’s hope all that positivity gets the team working well together.
He was saying that it's Beneficial for him to see how the players react when things get a bit tough, or words to that effect. That may mean that he can see their inabilities as well as the positives. There is a fair bit of positivity - about player attitude and the energy and demands of the fans.
But he also laces that with 'must do better' and wanting to see more.
He isn't picking out individual players for major praise or criticism - but I like the balance of his comments and the feeling he gives that the performances have to be better - and will be.
I think that he'll demand more from players, more work rate, more quality etc and i don't think that he will flog a dead horse like other managers have dome in terms with sticking with players who aren't performing, he'll hopefully be brave enough to stick other players in so that they can prove themselves and take opportunities. If that happens then it certainly suits me. No sentiment, no excuses, a theme all to much associated with the club and the fans in my opinion. Perform, have high standards, or piss off.

I hope it is, get rid if players aren't showing up. As it stands there's a losing mentality with this group of players, because for the best part that's what they've don for 2 years, and from where i'm sitting it's become easier and easier for them lo lose, an acceptance that can't be tolerated and a fan base that has seemingly accepted it to a degree, probably through no fault of their own. I'm really hoping BBM is ruthless in his approach to success, it's what's needed after 4 seasons of failure.
100%, this is another reason why fresh blood was needed but looks like that’s not forthcoming. Let’s hope he’s been doing a lot of physical but also mental work with the players.

And allow them to express themselves, take risks, show that they can be part of something and succeed, it also works the other way as well,but that's why these players are at the level they are, and they know that they have to perform. I think that BBM will allow them to show us what they can do, and I don't think that he'll hold out for any player either, which is what's needed. Ashford is an example of a young player who looks like he may have stagnated a bit, especially the back end of the season. I would say that he was probably allowed to drop his standards because Riza wasn't up to motivating him or getting him to do things differently. Players are daft, they need telling. It may all go South, allow I'm slightly encouraged by the fact that players look like they're prepared to take more responsibility on the ball and work harder when we don't have the ball. There's definitely a plan with this bloke, which makes a huge change.
Yes there seemed to be an air of inevitability accepting continual defeats at home and the obvious relegation that followed from both the team and the fan base last season. I’m hoping we will be more demanding of our team and manager ( and board) now we’re in league 1 .
