Last euro's my club had a few young girls ask to join, enough to start a U10 / 11 girls team ( we did have U14 and U13 girls teams at the time ) from a personally post of view, we have zero extra interest at U14 girls, nothing, not even a message, we kept the U14 going ( now play ladies ) but the U13 disbanded which is a shame, research shows that 43% of girls quit sports in the 1st year of secondary school, now thats a shocking % and one that society would be ashamed of
so while the ladies / girls game will always have its haters, the standard is improving, some of them little one / two touch triangles Spain used were outstanding, take it for what it is and its enjoyable
You can't say that when women's football was banned in the UK between 1921 and 1971. I accept that there has perhaps been a degree of over compensation from such days in the modern era, but there are sports (e.g. athletics and tennis) where the coverage women receive is more or less equal to men and no one bats an eyelid.
My view is that rather than looking at women's football in a manner that centres on making comparisons with how inferior it is to the men's game, it should be enjoyed for what it is. For me, the standard of the women's game has risen quite dramatically in the past twenty years or so and the crowds they get these days emphasises the progress the sport has made.
Not sure what you mean by politicised either.
Maybe men's football sees its own reflection in the hype and pomp and doesn't like what it sees? Or is disappearing up its own arse the sole preserve of the men's game?
Wasn't it someone on here that said Lucy Bronze could play professionally at mens football.🤣
Thirded. There's a degree of gaslighting going on with it.
I wholly enjoyed it. I think the team come across quite well, as does Sarina Wegmann the manager.
Technically it's comparable to men's football and in terms of player behaviour it's vastly better. Obviously it's much slower and less powerful, which is notable, but a good game of football is a good game of football.
Certainly not professionally in the Men’s game but they could learn a thing or two about passion for the cause and resilience from her.

As one who has poo pooed the women's game for a long time I found myself quite engrossed in the matches I have watched during this tournament. Possibly out of boredom I decided to give it a go and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The patterns of play are quite indistinguishable from the men's game. If you can ignore the obvious differences in power and athleticism it is not a bad spectacle. With regards to the final itself, I'm glad the Lionesses won but with a goalscoring forward Spain would have won at a canter.
I find myself agreeing with what you say.
I remember many years ago watching England versus the USA in the Women's Rugby World Cup Final at the Arms Park.
It was fantastic to watch, primarily due to the inherent weakness of women rugby players.... kicking (or the lack of it).
At a time when the men's game seemed to be obsessed with box-kicking, and long, raking kicks deep into the opposition territory, the women were keeping it in hand....it was refreshing to watch.
Same with women's football, seems far less tainted than the men's game - less theatrical and more honest endeavour.
if the game didnt have promotion, then it will never grow
ive had this discussion a few times, if people dont want to watch it, thats fine, im not interested in Rugby, so I dont watch it, but when its being discussed I certainly dont feel the need to tell everyone how much I hate it and all its faults
I know certain people are making a living out of the hate though, so maybe its just that, a living , Joey Barton for one
not sure how its politicized though
a couple of seasons back me and my daughter ditched following the men's Cardiff City team in favour of the women's Cardiff City team, the quality of the football played by the men's team was diabolical and we'd had enough, we followed the women's team pretty much everywhere and were thoroughly entertained.. in doing so we saved hundreds of pounds and they went on to sweep the board and win everything there was to win.
if nothing else the England women's team has highlighted how much the men's team has underachieved in comparison.
Women's tennis used to be good, Tracy Austin v Chris Evert that was great, until it turned into Tyson Fury's and Frank Bruno's in dresses. I expect football will head in the same direction.
