You don't have to know them personally in order to call it out. There are lots of folk, me included, that disagree with the blanket banning of all away fans for the Villa game. but find the treatment of the Palestinians disgraceful.
I’ll say it again, the authorities need to weed out the racists and nutters and ban them for life. That way genuine football fans will not be punished.

Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were banned from watching their game against Aston Villa after police intelligence concluded the biggest risk of violence came from extremist fans of the Israeli club.
The ban ignited an intense controversy and was criticised by the prime minister, as well as others claiming it was a surrender to antisemitism.
The police assessment led to the fixture on 6 November at Villa Park in Birmingham being classed as high risk. The intelligence and risk assessments that led to that conclusion and ban have not been made public.
But sources with knowledge of the details of the intelligence and risk assessments have told the Guardian that the Maccabi fans were considered likely to be the perpetrators of trouble.
According to sources, police intelligence said:
- Scores of extreme Maccabi fans with a past history of violence and shouting “racist taunts” were expected to travel to the Birmingham game.
- Dutch police told their British counterparts that the Maccabi fans had instigated trouble in Amsterdam at a game last year.
- They had randomly picked Muslims in Amsterdam to attack. That led to reprisal violence with some Dutch Jews attacked.
- A huge Dutch police effort, involving 5,000 officers across three days, was needed to quell the trouble.
- A community impact assessment by West Midlands police recorded that some Jewish people wanted the Maccabi fans banned because of the trouble that might ensue if they attended.
- Any trouble started by Maccabi fans attending the Birmingham game could lead to reprisals from local people and further trouble.
- The process did not consider whether the ban on fans of the Israeli club could be criticised as antisemitic itself or surrendering to antisemitism.
The ban on Maccabi fans was made by Birmingham’s Safety Advisory Group. It was decided after an intelligence assessment was conducted by West Midlands police, shared with the national UK football policing unit.
The UK football policing unit is understood to have backed the conclusions reached by local police.
The Home Office were told of the assessment five days before it was made public.
Then Starmer, Phillipson, Nandy and the rest (followed by Badenoch, Farage and Davey) - backed by most of the press - made out this was all in response to an anti-Semitic threat of violence towards racist Maccabi thugs!
It was the opposite!

I've seen videos where people at protests are questioning why others there have a union flag on their bag, in the UK. As it's racist apparently. It's insanity.

The irony on the flag shagging comment in this case is not lost too, given one of the cited examples of trouble that Maccabi fans did in Amsterdam was pulling down a Palestine flag. Why is being enraged at that to be applauded, whereas merely displaying your own national flag in your own country so looked down upon by the same people?

Union Flag, England Flag, even the Welsh flag now is all being dragged into it. We all know why they are being hung on motorway bridges, being put up on lampposts etc - let's not play silly games.
I haven't lived in Cardiff for a while now so save your time and take them somewhere else if you're looking to intimidate people.
You may find they are being displayed, like all flags, for a variety of different reasons and interpreted by different people for a variety of different reasons.

It's new, I'll grant you that. It's sociologically interesting, but I think they are displayed for several different reasons.
Don't even have to respond to this as I see TLG has already responded to a similar pathetic post. If you can't see (or more likely choose not to see) the connotations behind the flags being put up all over the UK, the impact it has on minorities and the bravado and courage it gives pack mentality scumbags to act like they do then I don't have any real interest in engaging with you.
There's a reason I stay away from the politics board on here but whenever it has spilled over into the football forum it's always pretty easy to see what type of person you are.
Why are you saying that minorities aren't represented by the Union Flag, the English flag, the Welsh flag etc? They are.
That's my issue. Your argument that it doesn't represent them has far deeper and longer term consequences. Its a far more divisive stance than someone putting up a flag.
The argument to push, in my opinion, is that the flag *does* represent everyone.
All emblems come with history, associations and with baggage. A flag is not just a flag - it is a statement too.
The Union Flag (The Butcher's Apron) and the St George's Cross (NF, BNP, EDL) more than most.
My attitude to those flags (and others) would change if the associations changed. I am neutral or even positive about most emblems and flags - depending on how they are used. There is one with white at the top, green at the bottom, and big red dragon in the middle that I really like!
Yvette Cooper is leading the way. She has UK and England flags on he shed (3 of them!), an England flag table cloth, curtains, lamp shades and duvet covers and pillow cases. Underwear of course. And a massive 'Ingerlund' tattoo around her neck.
