I suppose ones views on all this comes back to the old question of:

If the war doesn't end with the loss of some pre-war Ukrainian territory, and we aren't prepared to fully support Ukraine against a Nuclear power, then how does it end?

7 years is how long Lardy & Cyril were propagating the Russia Collusion Hoax, and no amount of evidence could persuade them that it was in fact a hoax. The data accumulated would be interesting to a PhD student studying media propaganda & brainwashing techniques. I certainly learnt a lot!

Crikey, are Ukraine going to agree to the ‘peace plan’ written by Putin and co?

Seemingly not. And there's nothing to suggest as yet that Putin won't look to take another chunk of Ukraine in due course.

Careful, the 'Russia Collusion Hoax' hoaxers (well, the apologist in chief) will be all over you for confirming that - even in jest!

I’d agree to it, just to stop the bloodshed and nightly bombing for the rest of Ukraine. I’d imagine if put to the people they would just want it over now anyway. Even the land they are currently fighting over is mainly Russian speaking people. Just let him have it but I think concessions on the army and a peace keeping force have to be included in it. Maybe in 10 years Putin will be long gone and Ukraine might be able to do what it wants again without the war.

Yup. What's done is done, cannot recover the lives lost, however, further loss of life can be avoided but for many their hatred of Trump is far greater than a will for no more bloodshed, my only other comment is that there is no such thing as a peace keeping force if NATO are involved. Zelenski and his government require to have an open and honest election, him and his regime were installed by a coup which was insigated by the US, no one has to like Trump but peace must be the focus at this stage and a Nobel peace prize whilst obviously he craves it, IMO it was devalued when it was given to OBAMA and isn't worth jack shit.

Yes, an election for sure. Obv not NATO as that’s Putins biggest fear. More like a UN type thing I guess a clear no man’s land (if there is anything left) between the new border lines. One thing is for sure having met a few Ukrainians in the last few years, they will never ever be seen as brothers under a soviet banner again.

No negotiated peace settlement will satisfy everyone - all parties will have to make some concessions. But that doesn't mean that the only 'offer' has to be one where Trump puts his name to a Putin wish list! It looks as if the Trump-Putin Collusion Offer is undergoing a major revision as other players (including the Ukrainians if you can believe that) get involved.

I agree with you about 2014, the historic role of NATO and the 'coup' that installed the pro-US government in Kyiv. But none of that detracts from the truth about Putin and his brutal reactionary regime.

I am surprised you place the devaluation of the Nobel Peace Prize as late as Obama. There have always been rogue winners (Theodore Roosevelt....) alongside more worthy laureates. But in more recent times there have been some real shockers, from Henry Kissinger to the latest in Maria Corina Machado!

Wasn’t Trump only saying a few weeks ago how disappointed his was with Putin and talking about further sanctions? Not that the current ones appear to be doing anything mind, with India and China buying up all the gas instead of Europe. I take it things are all rosey again somehow?

Current sanctions are indeed affecting Russia quite considerably.
